Think twice about the ch***is swap. The only drawback about the stock Ford ch***is is that they are famous for rusting out where the back legs of the X member meet the outer rails just ahead of the kickup over the rear axle. Precision Coachworks makes repair sections for the stock '40 frame, and Ch***is Engineering makes what you need to hang parallel leaf rear suspension and whatever drivetrain you want on the '40 ch***is. You'll never get a '40 to sit right or look right on an Explorer ch***is. It's like trying to make somebody else's skeleton fit your body. Having said that, welcome! Henrietta the '38 Ford pickup and Ozelle the '55 Ford, both of whom sit on their stock ch***is, send friendly horn honks.
Welcome from New Mexico! x2 on re-thinking a ch***is swap. You can make additions to a stock '40 that will make it ride like a dream, and a lot easier than an off topic ch***is swap. I'd buy another stock frame, or even a parts car for the frame, if the original is truly unrepairable. You'll also stay true to the "Traditional" intent of this forum.
Welcome *****er..... Bunch of good people on here. Good choice. I have a 40 tudor deluxe in my possesion as well. Ch***is swap???? Bad idea.
