Okay, I now have a set of 40 ford steel wheels. I am going to go with bias ply Firestone blackwalls.

I have another thread on the build but thought this was specific and didn't see anything this particular in a search.

I used a 4" drop axle and reverse eye 1" drop spring up front and a rear model T spring with a couple leaves out.

I was dead set on going for 750 16 out back and 600 16 up front, but have been somewhat co****d into 700's and 550's.

Spec wise from Cokers site, the heights are very similar, but we all know that in person they will look very different.

So PLEASE post pics with your A's with what size tire you are running, pics with wire wheels are encourages as well, as they look great. I am more concerned with the tire fit and look, than the look of the wheel.

    THANK YOU, Joe

Bill, which brand of tire are you running? I was understanding in the firestone line that the 550 and 750 tires are a missmatch tread. Yours look good.

I don't know if its because its a roadster or a 28/29 but the tire looks to fill up decent to the fender mount area decently. Mine has two leaves out of a t spring and it looks to sit much higher in the back.
I want the tire tucked up closer like Bills but didn't want to modify the rear of this ch***is.

In the end I want a ch***is with 32 rails and use a Y block ford.

I need to compare some 750 and 700 tires in person. They are almost the same height the 700 hundreds have a wider contact patch with less balloon of the sidewalls, so the specs say.

A rodder the spec say they are similar but in person there is a much bigger difference. The 700s look much smaller. If its open wheeled I woudnt hesitate to go 750s on the back. I personally feel in most cases 550s look best on front on most A's, mine being an exception..:) Check out MR. FORDs and Chris Casnys cars for more examples of 750s and 550s..

That's what I needed to hear, spec wise v real size. I am pretty sold on mine to run the 750s.

With my setup not being to low in the rear, do you guys think the 600 v the 550s up front?

Well I have the 16 inch steelies and today scored a set of original ford deluxe 40 caps in great shape.
I am leaning towards the 750s out back and the 600s up front.

Elmitcheristo, Myke, and myself are heading to bakersfield, I should see some live inspiration there!

    For a different perspective 5.60 X 15's and 7.00 X 15's in the back.. I know you got 16's but just to compare :D

I'm gonna run 16's on my next car...

Obviously your car is one that most of us aspire to build to, it is super cool.

Did you build you frame is it a bought modified frame?
I am looking at the Boling Bros. frames and I am uncertain of whether I want a stepped front section or an angled one like yours. Theirs is angled like yours and it looks good, I was kind of hung up on that.

I really want a 32 rail ch***is, but moneywise, I might just go with a stock style A frame with a 4 inch kick in the back and angle up front like yours.

Overall, I want my car about 3 inches lower than it is, but not by channeling it.

Sorry its a roadster but this is 6.00-16s in front and 7.00-16s in back, I think the 7.50s look a little too big like they belong on a truck, just my opinion...:D

  27. Use the same size cruzr used, unless you don't want yours to look like the most perfect A coupe on the planet. That is what a hot rod is supposed to look like... IMO. So many cars don't quite catch the look, cruzr's does.

    Thanks!!

The Frame was built by Bob Bleed and its basicaly a modle A frame style.. The front has been Swept and the rear was z'd.. it works well for a Channeled car but for a Un-chanlled car it might look broken... Altho I have never seen one on that type of frame thats not channeled..so it might work
