Really?...I thought they had a dip on the top, similar to '28-'29?...or is that the difference between p***enger car and commercial?

  7. That was my first thought (***uming you meant AA and not pickup) but the hole to mount the Ford emblem is wrong with the two small additional holes. The two holes 1/2 dia holes on the front about half way down are wrong. The bottom center is wrong. It looks like there are too many holes where the cowl lacing attaches. It is possible that it is a '30-'31 AA shell with a few extra holes drilled and a piece attached to the bottom but the odds are against it.

It is definetly an "AA" Commercial grille despite the "Extra" holes it had aquired over its life time.

  9. The pickup (built on the p***enger car ch***is) shell had the dip and was made of regular steel painted black. Both '30 and '31 shells used the '30 design (not the '31). The '30 had a blue emblem and the '31 had a stainless emblem (same as the p***enger cars for the respective years). The big trucks (AA) had a thicker radiator and the shell was deeper to allow for it. The shell was flat across the top like the one in the picture. The '30 had a blue emblem and the '31 had a stainless emblem (same as the p***enger cars for the respective years).

  10. Maybe a few measurements would help resolve it. I don't have a AA shell handy but maybe someone does.

Here it is in its natural habitat:

I must admit that I hadn't before now realised that AAs didn't use p***enger car shells

The question is, is the profile the same as the p***enger car shell? i.e. is it a direct swap? Plated it could make a change from a stock or Deuce shell on a '30/'31.

Since the hood is the same I ***ume the profile is the same. The problem is that it is deeper to allow for the thicker radiator used on the AA. A stock "A" radiator would look funny.
