We are in the finishing stages of the chop on my '53 Buick 4door that I started last winter. My friend is doing most of the work. We took 4 inches out of the top. I think the main thing is the rear window, if you keep the stock Buick window I think it adds to that rear bubble look that you are trying to lose. I ended using a rear window from a 1950 Mercury. I think it really changes the look of the car. -Fryguy
Thanks for sharing, Fryguy...your car looks great so far! I really like the profile, looks low and mean....best of luck finishing up the chop! I'm still gonna do the mine eventually Can't wait to see your finished product! Post pics!
Thanks Captain, I think the Merc window real changes the look of the back half of the car. The Gl*** guy came over today to put the fron Windshield back in but had a little bit of difficulty. Looks like the build will be a little delayed. Fryguy
That is the correct method. Basically, moving the rear window forward, so it still flows into the roof. Just laying the rear window down creates problems. The transition won't be right. But that is what the magazines keep telling people.
I did 3 1/2 months of research before taking the knife to my 50 Merc! Take your time. Plan the work and work the plan. Ask a lot of questions. I think 4 doors look just as nice when they are chopped however a lot more work.
