since the original idea, when i bought it, was to make a hot rod, i decided that the fenders had to go. the wheels are '33 buick, same bolt circle. stock '31 flathead six and 3 speed, but i have a '54 331 hemi that runs well sitting in the shop that may need to be installed this winter. kind of fun the way it is though. it keeps up with traffic fine.

I like it too! I didn't realize that the Dodge frames of the early 1930 era had a curved kick-up in the front. Rather, I thought they were ladder-type frames that were flat like the model A Ford. Nice to know. I will be building a 32 Dodge pickup. Thanks for the pictures.

I likey. Maybe find some speed parts for that 6. I know you can split the exhaust yourself. Maybe the offy dual ace manifold fits the early flat 6 too?

It's pretty wild how much a difference that fenders make. It's like a completely different car.

I agree, espcially in rainey area fenders seem to be necessary. The flathead 6's run good and a 5 speed would make the difference. In my-not-so-humble-opinion <grin>

Not a single thing I don't like about it. Looks great.
The Dodges and Plymouths had a bit lower lid than some others, didn't they?
And do I remember right that the frames are quite strong too?

  21. I like it a lot. The Plymouth and Dodge bodies had more leg room in them than same year Fords--something I appreciate being 6' 5" amd 260#. I liked it fine like it was but I really do like the way it looks fenderless, and of course I like to see makes and models you don't see as often.

nice. like it a lot. I have a 31 with a hemi myself

  23. looks like 2 different cars, are you going to change the rear for the hemi, what axle are you going to use? How about the steering setup, the Hemi will be in the way of the gearbox won't it?
    BTW that hotrod looks nice.

i would like it a bit lower, so even though i kind of like the parallel front springs, a 4" dropped axle and transverse spring is probably in the cards. no way to lower the front with the current setup. not enough room between axle and frame.an 8 or 9" rear end most likely. the steering box is definitely in the way. something smaller like a VW bus might work. i just saw an ad for patriot hemi headers in the last street rodder mag. anyone used them?

i had two 31 chryslers , they're nice cars ! i think of the weight of the hemi would get that front end down .i flipped the tube axle on my 33 plymouth and it looks like i have enough room inbetween the bottom of the frame and the top of the axle , with the desoto hemi in place !
