Come out to the Hangin' Tree Saloon in Bracken, Texas for the third annual Hot Rod Hoedown. This is a pre-1963 event scheduled for Saturday, June 18th. Sean Castillo and the Hubcaps will be playing as well as Bear and the Essentials, from Austin. $5 and 3 cans of food will get you in. The food is being collected for the San Antonio food bank. Bracken, TX is just north of San Antonio outside loop 1604 and just off of Nacogdoches Rd. Music starts at 8pm and cars are encouraged to show up around 4-5pm. In years past we have had good attendance from local car clubs and fellow HAMBers. Gear Grinders, Barons, Kontinentals...y'all have your ears on? If anybody needs additional info or directions just drop me a line. The exact address for the event is: Hangin' Tree Saloon 18424 2nd street Bracken, TX and their telephone number is [210] 651-5812.

I'll see you down the road.

Is it gonna cost anything to bring a car or what?

I should be living in Austin by then, so if you vatos are planning a caravan, consider me "in".

I was in SA at that time last year--for BASIC TRAINING! Ick...that was my first weekend I was there, I missed Back to the 50's...one of the worst weekends of my life...
But I still wish I could be there! Then I could see some of my Lackland friends...I won't be missing BTT50's this year though!!!
    Sounds like fun, guys!

No cost to bring your car! It's a very informal thing...no registration, just drive up and park where you can. It'll be hot as Hades though, so bring some cool-uns in an ice chest. They serve sodas and beer at the Hangin' Tree and sometimes they have food. Last year at the event they had some BBQ but I don't know if they will this year or not. Sounds like the Austin guys are going to make a nice showing...anybody tell Krupa about this shindig yet? Gear Grinders and Barons, ya'll in?

    See you down the road.

You got that Olds back yet?? If not, bring the rolling chassis of your '24 and we'll push you around the Hangin' Tree in it...you have to show of the new work by Barnett somehow. Tell Melissa that her birthday is going to be at the Hangin' Tree this year...hehehe.

Jeepers...bring it on brother! I'm all about throwin' some carne on the grill. For those of you outside south Texas, carne is beef! Let me know if you need anything like tortillas or some pico. We'll get it on...south Texas style. I'm really looking forward to this gig. Has anybody told Krupa and Outlaw? Tell those boys to pull out the throttle and get southbound. We are trying to get the street blocked off in front of the saloon for the rides. Hope to see you all there. Maybe we will be graced with a rare sighting of the elusive Barnett in his natural habitat?!

    See y'all down the road.

    Jeepers,

Bring down a few pieces and try to set up something near the saloon. My buddy, Impala Steve, and I had a big tent/gazebo thing set up last year where I had a rack with some vintage shirts, etc... I'll make sure he sets that up again and we can squeeze you in there. Do you have like pin-stripe art? Are the pieces real large? Bring as much as you are comfortable with. I'd dig it if we could get this thing rollin' with more vendors and stuff.

    See you down the road.

Last time I saw you was at the X-mas toy drive...it's been at least 6 months now. I'll look forward to seeing you there too. One last thing about the event is that we are collecting canned food to be donated to the San Antonio Food bank, so bring a couple cans of food to drop into the collection bins. Everybody got that?

Can't wait to see all you guys out there. I will be in North Carolina this Sunday but I'm sure some of the other guys will make it to Christian's gig. Be sure to tell the rest of the Gear Grinders to bring some canned vittles to toss in the donation bins at the Hanign' Tree gig. I just registered with the Food Bank. See y'all down the road.

Anyone from Austin heading down there? Ever get a headcount or a caravan worked out? I may cruise the '54 down there, but I don't wanna go alone.

Buzz54, it's $7 now? In the first post it says $5 and a few cans... ?

Lookin' like I won't make it. With this big GM sale, I haven't left work before 10 in a week or so. Worked my day off yesterday. And Saturday we are shorthanded.
