Hi all, If this thread is in the wrong place just let know and I'll take guidance on where it belongs. I'm a FNG and am learning. OK, I have a cab to a '51 F2 that I am getting ready for a visit to the body shop. All four inner door handles seem to be attached the same way. I see a little round hole in the handle when I pry back the estucheon ring a littel bit. But I can't see well enough to tell if it is a HEX screw or a rolled pin that hold the handle in place. I don't want to break anything. I've busted way too much chit over the years by doing first and thinking/asking second. How do I get these ******s off?? Hacksaws, M-80's, torches and crowbars are off the table. I want to re-use them as they are in nice condition. Thanks for any replies. Tom
not a roll pin but it is a pin. When you drop it in the dirt and lose it, cut off a piece of 1/8" welding rod for a replacement Push the spring and plastic collar away and you will see it
There is a Snap On hose tool that resembles an offset s****er, with a wide, forked end. Put the fork under the escutcheon (beneath the handle) and use a 3/32" flat nose drift (long shank punch) to drive the pin out.
Thanks Chris, Don & Mike. I feel ready to tackle the removal now. And uh, Chrisintx......you didn't say 'IF' I dropped the pin, you said 'When I drop...' I resemble that remark. ha ha ha Thanks again. This site is great. Tom
