My avatar uses a Mustg II complete wire harness. The brake switch wire from the brake pedal to behind the fuse box and thru the fuse block mounting plate, then thru the fire wall and tees into a 12 gauge yellow wire that goes to the Ford remote solenoid....well it got melted in spots from the brake switch to the 12 gauge solenoid wire. I was replacing the **** connectors in the rear tail lamp wires and got two wires mixed up. When I applied the brake pedal to see if everything worked I smelled wire insulation burning. I yanked the battery cable just in time before more of a meltdown. I inspected the entire harness and only this one 16 gauge yellow with green stripe wire heated up in spots. There are a few minor spots where it tried to melt itself to other wires but didn't. This wire p***es thru the fuse block mounting plate (see pic). I pulled the fuse block away from the mounting plate on the firewall. The second wire down on the right side (yellow with green stripe) heated up. Is this wire crimped to a retainer in the mounting plate? Can't remove it from either side using hemostats, and I'm getting a good grip on it. I'm tempted to run a separate wire through the firewall to the solenoid wire and removing the old wire from the harness. Thanks for any suggestions.

From the pics the wire is definitely crimped to a terminal in the plate. The terminals are usually a male/ female pair. The terminal is usually held into the block by a small tang on one side that engages into a slot within the housing. Option 1 is to try to push the tang down from the other side, option two is brute force and hope the wire doesn't break before the tang bends. I dont recommend option two. Option three is to cut the wire either side leaving enough to bare and solder new wire to. Add a little heat shrink and tie securely it'll be fine.

Its time you trash the whole thing and start over with a decent wiring kit. There are venders all over the HAMB, check one out. Normal Norman

JohnnyC79, Thanks for the sound advice.
Normal Norman thanks for chiming in, but I think your suggestion is a bit hyper reactive and excessive. Don't get me wrong, if the car needed a new wire harness I would probably go with Rebel Wire as many members here have spoken about, in previous posts.
