The engine in my T is an '84 SBC. I took the smog crap off and it runs good. I have minor mods, but it's in a light weight car, so it move very well.
tons of 305s and 307s out there - even some unsmogged sbf have been observed powering hot rods. When I use any smog engine, I retain (and usually simplify) the PCV system, dump everything else. If you're asking if anyone's actually running a later model engine with the smog equipment intact....nobody on a "TRADITIONAL" hot rod site like this would EVER admit to that. Speaking of disposing of smog stuff...check the prices on OEM air pumps for the 60s cars that had them removed for 'performance purposes' and mostly just junked. Shelby 'stangs, most Corvettes, etc. Finding an original to reinstall on a restoration is nearly impossible. The junkyards have long ago given up any muscle car stuff. I had a few Shelby items for 428PI and 428SCJ, but sold them too soon. We don't do 'smog' here, except after a session of good chili cookoff dj
wow must be nice, we have to have to be smog tested to the engine no exceptions. So if you put an '84 into an 1920 it has to pass emissions for '84.
