Ha that's great. I think it would be pretty smooth coming home to a chopped hot rod. Happy b-day dad!

Moral of the story is, if you want your parents car, then customize it while they are out of town. Then you'll have to buy it and bam! It's yours!

He told me another story that was kinda funny. His sister was dating a guy that had a model A and wanted the top chopped.Well they came up with a price I think about 40 or 50 bucks. He did the chop and had it most of the way finished and the guy came and took his car back and never paid him then broke up with his sister. That is when he found out the only reason the guy went out with his sister in the first place was to get his model A chopped.I don't know how long this chop took.

I cannot even imagine if I had done anything to my dad’s car, he would have been wild and may have grounded me until I would be 30. There is always a weirdo who is an awesome entertainer. Lol

Call this one BS.....my neighbor bought his 16 year old son, Bob a '48 mercury my dad said it was in great shape, like new and cost his dad a LOT of money he didn't have. he chopped it in AG shop in high school, the interior caught fire. he never finished it, it sat behind the corn crib for 10 years, till my neighbor drug it to the junk yard. I was maybe 10-12 years old and remember looking at it one day. boy did i catch hell from my old man!! just for looking at it!!
Fast forward 8 years... I'm busy chopping the frame on my motor cycle my old man walked in! holly **** did i catch hell!! called me "Bob" for a week!!

Funny thing I remember a guy a couple years older that did that and he never heard the end of it. The job wasn't very good but he had an idea and tried. Some people would rather try and fail than just dream.

Hits close to home. I gave my son our one owner 66 Chevy Deluxe Fleetside C10 to drive to high school. Did I happen to mention he was in auto body vo tech?? Came home one day and he had painted the orignial Black and White with brown primer! The original paint wasnt in top shape, but whats a guy gonna do? I did give him the truck, and if he wanted to drive around in primer, ok with me.

That was 10 years ago, and it still has the old primer on it....Kinda of in style now days.

Somebody asked me if this gentleman was on the HAMB. He is now he just joined but has not done an intro yet.His screen name is 72cutter.If you have any questions about his car ask him he will tell all. I want him to tell more of his stories because they are funny as hell.

I had a 30 model A sedan in the 60's...I traded it to my cousin for a craftsman roll around tool box. We took it to his house... I went back two hours later, and he had the top cut off. The bad thing was...That's all he ever done to it. So...wierd things do happen.

I bet this was somewhat common back in the day. My Dad gave me some counseling about changing anything on the family car, because he saw me reading a hot rod book. I think I was 13 or 14..............
