I thought I'd share some pics of the 49 Merc that I aquired in Dec, of 2010. It was customized in 1984 and with the exception of shaving the door locks and fuel filler door, it has remained unchanged. The Merc was restored this spring with new paint, interior and a few minor changes. I hope you like what you see.

Nice looking merc. I love the under dash treatment. What ******/shifter are you running? How close does it come to the dash and does it reach to in between the front seats? I have a bench seat and I am in the market for a shifter for my 700r4. Thanks.

The shifter is a Lokar for a GM350 ****** and when in the Park position (as shown in the pic) it's about 6" from the dash. If the seat was a bench, the shifter wud be about 7" from the edge of the seat.

Thanks for the reply. It didn't look like there could be any interference, but I wanted to be sure. It looks like the knob is just about the same height as the top of the dash. What length did you buy? I think they come in 16', 23', and 32'. Thanks again.

I do like your car...its nice to see a 4-door chopped and done right....I would chrome the bumpers tho and replace the (3) three outlet lakers with just a single outlet...

The buckets are from a 1984 Riviera with the arm rests removed.
