Those are not vintage wings gauges. While they are nice, they look very different from original wings.

I'm aware of that! However, they do match the original 32 speedo. And, the tach and volt meter have been replaced twice.

Ahh gotcha! Yes I've heard that many are not happy with new SW products since they are now made in Mexico.

If you get the mechanical tach, and the tach drive dist. Any big truck repair place can make you a drive cable with the right ends on it to mate your tach and dist with the proper cable.

  6. I'm afraid that those days are past too. It's hard to find anybody that know how to do that in our world. Today's trucks haven't used cable driven speedometers since around '85 or so. That changed along with when cars and small trucks did too.
The LAST time I needed a custom speedo cable built, I had to have it built and shipped from somewhere in Chicagoland to the Little Rock area. They did good, will be my last time to deal with that.
I looked at a splattered 15 1/2" truck pressure plate this morning and a snapped 2" input shaft along with a splattered RTLO18918B transmission.
Back to gauges, don't buy new SW stuff like I did without info like from on the HAMB. I did it JUST BEFORE finding out about this forum. It's like Kenny Shrader saying to pit just before the caution.
Rebuilding old gauges will be costly. Decide how much you want to spend to do it.

Ok, so I was looking on Mallory's website and it appears that they make brand new mech tach drive distributors. So, does anyone know what the ration of a SW wings tach would be? Are they all standard?

They use to go on 0.500 from the crank not 1-1 .

I though the tach gauages where all the same. It was the drives that change for diffent application

Schulze is the manufacturer of the Jones tachometers. Their website has a lot of different adapters and they also make custom cables. I haven't bought from them - they are probably pricey.

Correct. The majority of tachometers are calibrated 2:1 (twice cable speed) to reduce internal wear. Crank drives are 0.50 and distributor drives are already reduced (generally). Side note: Pegasus Racing makes a very nice crank drive.
