Now that I have my 53 Dodge panel truck home I am trying to fix some things after the truck sat in a garage for about 10 years. I found all the brake parts I need at NAPA but cannot find any replacement wiper blades, thermostat, or radiator cap. I would also like to retain the old glass bowl fuel filter if I could find a new filter for it. This is my first experience with a Dodge truck. Surely there has to be a "MAC's" type place for Dodge??? Any help is appreciated!

I'd bet NAPA has almost all of that. Last two fuel pumps I bought for my Ford 6 at NAPA were brand new glass-bowl type. Just gotta find the right help there. Ebay may be just as good as anything else. Love that panel.

Might try Roberts Motor Parts or Bernbaum.

  7. Radiator caps and thermostats are universal. Wiper blades are a little tougher, but still fairly universal. Repro parts for a '53 Dodge Truck? Not too likely.

Yep...or nope, actually. Mine is a '55 and it is next to impossible to find stuff. E-bay, Bumbarns (they are rude and sloppy) and luck as far as finding anything beyond the basics. I'm really disappointed with LMC...they have everything for every model out there except for Dodge. Must be a step-child thing (red-head)... I bought a welder and learned how to fabricate stuff for mine.

I'm amazed at how seldom anyone recommends or is even aware of the vast resources available in Hemmings Motor News. There are hundreds of sellers for most US makes, commercial businesses along with private folks. They have listings of clubs that you can contact in case they have a source for what you seek. I cannot get along without it.

I just assumed everyone kept a Hemmings in the "thinkin' room" If you cant find what you are after through the Hemmings possibly search out a dodge forum...I have an old IHC and there no aftermarket body panels and little of anything else..
