Anybody know of a shop that does Carson Tops in Northern Cal (Sacramento Area)?

    Im looking at maybe buying a buddies 53 Bel Air Hardtop that had the roof cut off and windshield lowered about 3". I was wondering if anybody knew of any shops around Nor Cal that does Carson Tops. I want to call around for prices so I know what Im getting into.

    google how to build a carson top---we did one for a topless 51 showbox in 1994 and it came out great. R&C has a complete guide on the subject, along with other sites.

    I researched that, but dont really feel comfortable building one. I only welded once before. I did find one guy out here but he wanted $4000, then I would have to get upholstered.

    I built one a few years ago....took three tries but it came out great....then another $1500 to get it upholstered was the best I could find (10 years ago about) For me it was as hard as chopping a top...so I could see $4K from a shop....

    Talk to Jay @ Standley Brothers Hot Rods in Yuba City. He built this 36 and made a carson top for it as well. Could'nt find a pic with the top on it, I'll post one if I can find it. You won't find a more stand up guy to do the job right.

    3500 to 4000 is what id charge to do it too,, its alot of work and very time consuming
