I've noticed several members on here getting "BANNED" under their member name in place of "FNG", "Senior Member", et cetera..

Some of the ones that got banned, I could see why.. Some others make me scratch my head as to why.

My question to the moderators is whether there are definitive reasons as to why you would ban someone, things that might influence you to ban them, etc and as to if you could list them so that those of us who want to will know. I've read the forum rules over and over but still get the feeling that maybe it would be better to be safe than sorry, I guess.

Just wondering because I would hate to get banned. I love this place and am on here every day, although not always logged in. This place is just indescribable and irreplaceable.

Thanks to all who work hard on this forum.

We rarely ban anyone, so to be banned you gotta so something pretty bad.

If you are a decent guy and treat folks like you want to be treated yourself, you have zero to worry about.

  3. I've heard that just the mere act of asking what gets you banned is grounds for banning.
    :D;)

Perfect. That makes sense. I don't suppose you could put up a couple of examples of those pretty bad acts? Of course, names and such should be omitted for safety's sake..

Oh crud. So it's kinda like the Fight Club rule where you don't talk about the Fight Clu--

    Oh crud. :D:D

One thing that happens more than I expected it to, is where a User has something Deleted or Closed ( no big deal unless it happens a lot, we all have lapses in concentration from time to time...)
But the User takes it personal and gets completely unglued to a Mod in P/M's, or starts to cause Drama on the Board.

If that gets bad enough, it can get somebody Banned.
But it leaves a confusing situation for the other Users, that only saw the insignificant Delete or Close...

All very reasonable. Nothing I should have an issue with. Thank you. I'm just overly cautious. :)

That's never going to be an issue with me either. I'm deaf. :D

  10. And whatever you do, under no cir***stances, for any reason, even if you are getting paid to do it by the Boy Scouts or your dear sweet grandmother... absolutely NEVER EVER mention "dryer sheets" or those "r*t r*ds".

I remember when that one thread got brought up from like 2005 or something where a roadster was featured in a ****o because some guy decided to search for ****.

Agreed. I think that's an universal rule though.

The "R*t r*ds" rule, I absolutely agree with! Now, "dryer sheets".. Could you elaborate? I'm not catching the drift.

I put a box of dryer sheets in my storage unit last month... by spring I'm hoping to open it back up and find my Model A complete and ready to drive, not a rusty pile of stuff stacked in the corner.

Don't be a complete ***hole on a regular basis, just every now and then , when appropriate. Haha
Being an ***hole all the time will get you banned for sure, ask me how I know! :) ;)

I probably should have been banned a few times in the past for some political BS talking and **** like that, but the nice guys up top let me slide thankfully. So yeah, I'm guessing you really need to be an *** to get the boot.

I have since decided none of that **** is worth my time when I come across it and just concentrate on what this site is about instead. Better that way all around.

  18. Minus the searching for **** part, that was 100% me. *shameful embarr***ment* I still maintain my excuse as follows:
"Chaos10meter was approached about having his car used in a photo shoot, and they warned that there would be 'scantily clad females'. He suggested maybe it was a ****o shoot... and someone else linked this thread. Well I read through it all and did a fair bit of laughing, so I decided to risk the scorn of the HAMB and post"

Well i havent been banned either.....yet. You MUST be careful not to step on the toes or opinions of the old folks. Mention air bags or big wheels and you will send off flares. Also be careful about asking people their opinion because they Will give it! and most people (me included) can only take so much of that. This place has an extremely valuable wealth of knowledge and information, so now that i have learned my lesson i try and use it for that .

You know what REALLY gets me? The dude that is en***led... For instance, I deleted a decidedly off topic post the other day and got this in a private message:

"How dare you delete my thread!!! That was my thread and you had no right to do that. No right!"

I didn't even know how to answer him. I didn't ban him... I mean, you gotta do something pretty bad to get banned... But I sure wonder how he got his sense of en***lement.

Yeah, you might wanna watch the other ladies on the site to see how it's done. Rather than treating it like a dating site, consider it a brag book. Jump in and work on your car yourself. If you run into any troubles, post questions... Folks would love to help in that way.

Keep in mind that this is a car forum with 99.8% guys. Getting too friendly too fast puts up red flags for some. Sad part is if you put up photos of a 5'10" twig model rather than who you are the guys would have been all over that. Sad but true , some of us grow up and some don't.
