I Like Big Butts: '46 Sedan project

funny, just noticed it was there originally, but also notice the location, the fender my buddy put on it was a 48 fender with the marker light below the headlight, reason for the cheasy repair, but also the fender trim is in a different location.

It was a long time coming, but I FINALLY brought this ****er home. Divorce from evil ex+working like crazy=more than a year to drag my rusty **** home.

On the positive front, it runs like a champ. Just waiting on paperwork and I'll be driving the **** out of it. I'm not doing anything to it except put in a stock interior and clean up the engine compartment. Hoping to drive it to the Roundup in 2012.

 

You keep geeting all the cars I just DREAM of! But you ONLY had an "evil ex", I dealt with an Eviler Ex (24 years) AND 3 teenagers! The freedom is worth it even if I still won't be able to afford a hot rod for a LONG time!
Those Tudors are in my top 5 (along with '29 Tudors)!

 

Glad to hear everything is back on track. I need to pic up some more of your work, where's the right place to do that these days?...

 

I seem to have a sedan fetish, too.

New photos. Haven't done much other than clean it a bit and pull off the bumper guards and trailer hitch. Still waiting on registration and plates.

 

Coop, That is one good looking Tudor. I have a '41 Tudor and project '41 Fordor. The Fordor will be getting chopped two inches, sectioned two inches and channelled two inches. Power will be a '56 Y-Block with three deuces and T-Bird valve covers.

Cleaned up the hubcaps and repainted the logos in red One-Shot:

 

Pulled out the window garnish moldings and painted them rattlecan black:

 

Bigger job today - performing a dashectomy. Went faster and easier than I expected. Whoever re-wired the car and replaced the gauges did a good job, which made it go more quickly.

 

Tomorrow I'll start cleaning and prepping for paint. I also put the garnish moldings back together and put 'em back in the car, but no photos of that.

I missed this the first time around. What a neat old car!

 

Also ordered new plastic trim pieces for the dash. Need to strip the stainless trim and see if it is salvageable, otherwise find it somewhere else. Guess I need to start looking for the correct speedometer too - why does that sound expensive?

 

I have a nice 3-piece rear gravel shield for it if you're interested.

 

Damn, now I want a ´46 Tudor too... Great looking car!

It occurs to me I should probably replace the wiper motor while the dash is out.

 

That is a sweet car and with nice curves!!

 

Love those tubby tudors. My buddy has a '47 in about the same shape, with a perfect stance. Those little Chevy mills fit really nice.

Hey Coop, keep us posted when you get to the wiper motor swap. That's the only thing that keeps me from driving my '41 Fordor year round. What are you planning on using? a donor ***embly, or a kit?

 

No idea, haven't even looked into it yet. I suppose I'll start with CW Moss, see what they have.

Starting to get the dash finished, should have it back in this week.

 

Also bought an electric wiper motor from C.W. Moss - it was on sale, and they gave me the wiper arms and blades for free! Always liked that place, like 'em even more now.
