Thanks! I get to meet the pilot Jim Haus on Saturday. He's the featured guest on http://www.warbirdradio.com on this Thursday the 12th. I was the featured guest last Thursday. You can download the show as a podcast on their site too. And for the HAMB connection, I was sitting in the '55 when I called into the show so I could have some peace and quiet. My little boy was terrorizing the house, and there's no way he would have left me alone for the hour. :D

Hey Chad, I'm new to the forum, but have done a little bit of nose art work too, GREAT job on the "Gooney Bird" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and the B-24 of the CAF, I did a "repaint" some years ago on Bob Ponds P-40 ,I didn't get a chance to get photos of myself working on it as I was there by myself , but I enjoyed doing the work , my first "warbird" , I had also done some on a friends Navion , he was a 5 kill ace with the 52nd Fighter Group ,and a unit emblem on an O-2 "Duck" it was the 549th TASTS emblem, my main line of work is Leather military flying unit patches , I feel more comforatble doing these , and the work "enviroment " is much better than the "outside " jobs like the C47 you tackled , man that was a lot of work !

I am glad to see that there are many people still keeping the old tradition of "nose Art" alive , and it is making a comeback somewhat on the "modern" military birds !

Keep up the great work !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    Johnny

Hi Johnny. Welcome aboard and thanks! I've been wanting to do some jackets for years and it seems I can never find the time! I just submitted pencils for a new nose art project and if it all works out, I'm sure I'll do a matching jacket.

Do you post on the Vintage Leather Jacket forum as well?

Yeah I do , as a matter of fact you can see some of my leather patch art there under the Jacket art/patches section of the forum , jacket art is another thing I've done several of but again , I'm not comfortable with them as they all are different in the way they're treated with oils/weather proofing etc so I'm leary about doing art on them .

But there are those out there I've seen doing them and VERY good at it too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'll stick with the leather unit patches , I enjoy them very much !!!!!!!!!!

Django- I was at the air museum on Saturday, and I gotta say that the lovely redhead caught my eye (and camera lens) Very nice work.

Did you do the art on the B-17, too?

No, but if you saw the B-17 Tshirts in the gift shop, that is the art that I'm going to paint on it once they get it to that point. They want me to paint the B-25 as well.

Just a quick update: The active duty 1st Air Commandos are coming up to help with the white stripes on the tail in a couple months. And thanks to HotRodJosh, I was able to secure some vintage C-47 seats so that the ****pit can continue to be restored. I dropped them off with Warbird Rescue/Grissom Air Museum this past Sunday.

Wow! The White Stripes on the tail of that C-47 will be pretty impressive. I didn't know they were still doing shows since their split up last February.
