I saw this on the s**** mans trailer and bought it from him for $30. I figured it was worth the gamble...

Anybody know what it is? Im scouring google right now but so far no luck.

Someone made a trailer out of it many years ago and welded the spindles to the axle but i have my fingers xed that maybe i can use the hubs, drums and backing plates on my 30 model A axle...

    Yep, early Chevy.

On a positive note, you might be able to use the spindles, brakes and such on a tube axle from Speedway. They make tube axles that use Chevy spindles.

    5 lug early Chevy??
Anyhow, I think rust is sufficient that nothing from brakes would have been realistically rebuildable.

The backing plates look rough in the pics but they are def good. the drums are mismatched and one of them is grooved bad. the other is good.

Spindles definitely Chevy. The axle is parallel leaf (duh...) meaning it is from an early car to 41, or truck up to 54. Can't tell specifically. The 5-lug hubs are probably 49-54 car, which fit the truck spindles. That is my best guess as to what you have specifically.

    Be careful about that.
I bought a rear end off CL that ended up being some thing I couldn't use. Made my self haul it around as punishment. Not even two weeks into my penance some guy offered me enough for it to make a $5.00 profit. Now I'm haunting Craig's again. Didn't learn a damned thing.:(

i am confused... i had a guy here buying some stuff who said the drums and hubs were def ford so i cleaned them up a bit and sure enough the hubs have ford stamped on the dust seals but they do not seem to fit my 46 square back spindles. any ideas what hubs these are??

Take out the bearings and find the numbers on them.

I don't see anything Chevy in your pictures, but I'm not real familiar with the Ford truck axles over the years. Ford used solid axles and parallel leaf springs from 49-64. but those brakes look pretty early.

Dodge and international used the smaller 4.5" bolt pattern at that time, I think. Chevys were 6 lug.

the inner bearing is lm 48548

    the outer is lm 11949

the hubs are 5x5.5 and the drums look like ford to me but im just comparing to pics off the net so thats really just a guess..
