I think that the radius wheel wells look best with a little lip on the outside, they look unfinished or like an after thought when it is just straight cut; plus it matches the front better. The lighting on the photo of the 327 55' shows it off nicely.

here's my falcon. Now that they're on, I personally dont like the verticle edge on them and may remove that before the car's done. I'd like just a small lip/roll for a thin finished look.

new cars today have 3-5 inches of flattend lip on the flare and i just dont get that at all...

Personally I like this style the best. A little flat on top, closer emulates the original wheel opening. Also reminiscent of the larger opening on the Nomad wagons.

Heres a little different, the quarters were cut to mimic the front fenders, also like the station wagon quarters. people look, know something is different, but can't put their finger on the change. I like that, it doesn't jump out at you.

Here's my Falcon so far. Going with 3/8" cold rolled around the edge.

I think if the front fender has a lip then the rear should too. Although not finished here's mine I did on the Henry J

Here's my simple wheel wells in progress on my 55 chevy. Got them roughed in along with the quarters, still working on them. 3/8 round steel rapped around a 50 gal drum and lot of elbow grease and several trial fits but eventually not too bad. First try. Like the nomad style also. Lets see if I can get the photos on YRUHOT.Doug
