    Help! :)

I have a 64 f100 project that i have dropped a 460 into and need to move the power brake booster over and either keep the pedal where its or move it.

Has anybody out there done this swap or had to move the booster? I need ideas/help ( preferably with pics) :).

Thanks in advance for all your help!

Hello Tigger, I did the fatman mustang 2 with power steering on mine also a 460.
I was trying to get my engine down so I would not have to but kept running into the lines from the power rack. I basically moved mine to where the rod went to the other side of the pedal if that makes sense. I will try to get you some pictures in the next day or two when I get back out to the shop.
what size of booster are you running and what kind of front end?

Please do send me some pics.

I have an 06 crown Vic front suspension with 06 CV brake setup. Although thinking of putting a chrome booster and master.

    Thanks

I would do hydroboost off of an Astro van. It's a really simple setup that a lot of full size bronco guys do. Parts are readily available and if you are running 4 wheel disc's then you can use a Vette or Camero m.c. If you prefer to keep it all ford then look for the hydrobooster off a 4.6 Mustang and use the same master but remember to add a residual pressure valve to the rear lines (5psi) to keep the rear drums from having a delay when stepping on the pedal. Drums require some residual pressure to not fully collapse.

I moved my booster and master cylinder to the clutch cylinder position since I was running an auto tranny with my build.
This helped provide more engine bay space.
I kept both pedals and just joined them together with a metal frame.
I just put a balnking plate over the original brake master cylinder hole.

Also, what are your thoughts on bending or customizing a new brake pedal arm? Just the arm and moving everthing else over.

    Thanks

remember... your steering column goes between the brake and clutch pedals, so there is not much room to move stuff around.

I did actually heat and bend my pedal arms slightly to strategically postion them to suit the steering column postion.
From memory I actually starightened them slightly to make them longer as I always felt they where too high from the floor to use easily.
They were also bent/straightened to obtain a straight face on each pedal to fit my joiner frame in with.
I did also slightly relocate my steering column to one side as I need to clear an exhaust manifold and used a uni joint in my steering as I have used the Dodge Dakota IFS as sold by Industrial Chassis Inc of AZ.
It is still not finished although I have test driven around a few blocks and it drives nice.
I also used a Classic Performance brake master cylinder and booster upgrade with the dakota brakes and would say the booster seems too small at 7 inches diameter and if done again I'd use the biggest booster I could fit under the hood.
A longer brake pedal may improve the leverage for braking and still using the small booster.

I'm moving my column over as well and was thinking of using a 7inch booster instead of the CV booster because i have a CV front suspension. Did you move the booster over?

You could fab a z-bar type setup. And if you run the right master you wouldnt need a booster.

on my 1960 F100, I added a the 64 booster and a double reservoir master cylinder and I have a 460. Everything bolts up, no funny stuff, (except the spacer between the firewall and booster) no relocating anything
