Just had a groundbreaking yesterday for a new 1/4 mile all concrete dragstrip in New Florance Mo just west of St Louis. Had approx 150-200 people attend. If the weather holds they should be pouring concrete in 4 weeks and racing in the spring. This will be a NHRA affiliated track. Ronnie Moss and his investors have worked had to reach this point. We are sure to have some Nostalgia events here as Ronnie likes to race at Nostalgia events. http://s471.photobucket.com/albums/rr72/SNK-EYZ/MAR Groundbreaking Ceremony/#!cpZZ2QQtppZZ24 The website for the track is www.marpark.net

Any new track opening is good news, now to get the people there to keep it open.

This is good news, although I do wonder what kind of effect the re-opening of gateway international on the new track.

We have always up to a few years ago have had 2 strips in the St Louis area and had enough cars to support two tracks. Even with the ecomomy being that it is and Ronnie building a so called budget track and not a Mega track like Gateway he should be able to cover the expenses. This is going to be a no frills track to start with improvements to follow according to demand.

I've been following this since the begining and couldn't be happier. I was lost when a certain nascar a$$hole decided to just park cars on pevely. When Wentzville and Gateway went away it just plain ****ed! I can say for a fact that even if Gateway comes back I'll be racing and spending my money with Ronnie to show my grat***ude.

Ronnie being a Ford racer made a joke about the fact that " No Ford engines were harmed in building of the shovels" so you can guess what he used!!!!!!!

What a great addition to the Midwest racing program. So sorry to see the old Tulsa strip shutting down. The shovels for the groundbreaking are awesome. Best of luck to all involved in this brave adventure. We were excited to have a drag strip start to develop between Omaha and Lincoln Ne. just off I-80 and kaboom marital problems for the developer shut it down. Tough deal. Love all the hot rods cutoms and drag cars at the St.Louis site to show support for the developer. Ya-Hoo!! ~sololobo~

The rate in which we have been losing race tracks it's pure eye candy to see someone building a new drag strip

If anyone remembers the old Mid America Raceway in Wentzville Mo, the old tower now resides next to Ronnie's house in Belflower Mo. He has restored it and turned it into a museum for the ol raceway. He has lots of memorabilia from the track. If ever in the area it would be worth seeing. For several years past he has had a MAR Reunion at the site. The tower was quite unique. Just search Mid America Raceway Wentzville Mo for some pictures. The new tower will have to be like all the current NHRA drag strip towers to make NHRA happy, it's to bad it could not be replicated to add to the nostalgia feel of the track.

Whens gateway reopening? I heard it was gone for good...glad to hear a new track is opening! In my opinion, gateway lost its appeal after the remodel 15-20 years ago.
I can see me spending alot of time at this new track tho... Gotta get my car ready, gotta get my car ready, gotta get off my **** n get my car ready!!!!!

I heard about the loss of your track awhile ago, what a shame. We were talking about your track at the groundbreaking and someone said that there is another track going in around your area, any truth to that? I wonder what they are going to do with the big Mustang meet they have in June as far as dragracing.

    Probably Mopar shovels! ;)
With all those shovels they could have just kept going and began excavating for the new track!
