I am thinking about using them on a rear steer nova subframe. I hear it messes up the geometry, but its not from first hand experience. I would like to hear from someone that is, or has used them.
I had a rear steer nova on my 41 chev. The track was too wide for a u turn. I had a local hot rod builder shorten the arms 1". He cut between ball joint and spring, and lapped the arms over to get the 1" dimension. They were welded on both sides and worked very good. I had the car 20 years that way. I did need to heat the sway bar and bend in to fit new arms.
Nova or Chevy II ? Not sure I'd do either actually. I'd shorten or make a new cross member before I cut and shortened a control arm. While the upper doesn't have to hold much load, the lower holds the car off the ground...! I installed a C4 Vette front suspension into my Stude Lark. The stock crossmember was too wide...so I built my own crossmember so I could use unmodified a-arms, R&P modification by Flaming River. 49caddy - You "heated" a sway bar....................!?!?!?! It's not a spring any longer...you know that right..? It's not too much more than a large paper weight.. Mike
I bought the car under construction with subframe already installed. The car was sitting at about stock ride height, so it wasn't to bad. I am shooting for about four inches off of the ground. So, I am looking at either running narrowed control arms, or radiused wheel wells (or a little of both).
