So here's the skinny - I'm rebuilding my first carb and it's a 600-cfm Holley 4160, with electric choke, vacuum secondary and it's a squarebore. I accidentally bought the rebuild kit for a Holley 750-cfm 4160 (part # 37-754) and LordCo won't take it back without a receipt which I don't have any more. (I need the 37-720). I know that I could just go and buy the right one but I'm trying to keep costs down here. So my question is, can I rebuild my carb with this rebuild kit? Or is something going to go horribly wrong? Thanks for the advice.
Take it apart and look, clean it up. Sometimes it dont even need a rebuild kit. Soak all the rubber parts in brake fluid over night. Makes them soft again. (float valve, gasket, ect.)
shoot me the list # of your carb. I will look it up in the spec book.. I think the bowl gaskets, metering plate gaskets etc are the same... about the only difference will be the throttle shaft / base gasket. (750 uses bigger throttle bore) Are both carbs single feed ? Dave
The metering block gaskets will be different. Just match up the rest of the gaskets to see what will work and pick up the gaskets you will need,no big deal. Mike
the kit should contain everything you need including 3 different sized base gaskets. Every Holley kit I've gotten for the last couple years are universal and cover every version of that style carb.
The list number is 80457 and yes it's a single pumper and the kit is for a single pumper too. I say this because 4160's are always single pumpers, as far as I know The only other number on the choke tower is 2056
