Very tough call. I'm lucky enough to have both, am not biased one way or the other. Your last post tells it all though - SELL THE 40 COUPE AND A PICKUP. I like 40's and A's, but these two outcl*** those by miles!!! BTW - I would figure $$ to be very close on both cars in similar condition.
If by some chance you posed the question like that ? I want to buy a 32 5W, Should I : A-sell my my 40 and A PU and buy the 32 5W or , B-sell my 33 5W and buy the 32 5W I'm guessing it would be unanimous on option A. The reasons are multifactoral at that point.
man...talk about a dilemma I don't know what the hell I would do. I've always wanted a 32 5w....but the 33 5w's are equally cool. ****....i guess what I really want is every coupe from '28 through '35.....
Keep the '33. Nobody will ever come up to you and say "I used to have a Model A just like that". And I have both a '33 and a '32.
it's personal preference Which do you prefer and which one will get you driving quicker? Me? I've got a 34 3w that I would trade for similar condition 32 5 window.....in a heartbeat.
Well actually most folks are STUPID when it comes to old cars. I have been told that they had a Model A just like mine while I was driving a 40 Ford coupe. Back to the original question. Going by your description, the 33 and the 32 should be CLOSE money wise. Selling the Model A and the 40 would be my route. But I sold a 40 to help get a 32 3W ... and I sure do miss the old 40. I guess we just love them all too much. DO whatever it takes to get the 32. Raise the money or even Go borrow the $$$ to get the 32. Then take your time and let your heart tell you what to sell and what to kep. Randy
Used to always think the 32 was the ultimate...Now 33 has hit the top of my list!! Plus you already have it!!! Rock that bad boy out!
Thanks, fellas. I would be happy with either one, as I love both styles. Hence the dilemma. It will take the same amount of work on each (less the driver paint job on the 32). I was primarily interested in the opinions on whether they were close $$ wise. I really like Randy's thinking; buy it and THEN decide what gets sacrificed. NOT too cool on selling the 40, though.
Many years ago ... ( over 35 years ) I was a broke, not been married long ... fellow with a low paying government job. I had a El Camino payment, a House payment and the wife had a Toyota payment. I was building a brick gargage behind the house. A 32 steel roadster came up for sale that I had lusted after for years. I did the irresponsible thing ( with the wife's blessing ) and went and BORROWED enough $$$ to buy the 32 roadster. The brick gargage was half finished. Everything had to sit ... for 2 and 1/2 years ... because I had no extra money to work on anything. Finally got the Toyota and the El Camino paid off. Then the roadster Only then could I make progress on the brick gargage. Got it finished and then started on the 32 roadster. I would do the same thing again ... even knowing what I know now. I still have the house, the same wife and the 32 roadster.
Thats tough, I would lay awake at night trying to decide. Sounds like either choice would be a good one. Im with Bruce Lancater, which one floats your boat the most.
So, let me get this straight. You have to choose between a belly****on, everybody has one, 32 or a stylish 33? Thats a tough choice.
Man that's a hard decision. 33s sure look good but so does a 32. I think value wise they are the same. I couldn't decide either so i just got both. I actually did it this way, I got a 32, 33, 34, 35 now I just need a 36 and I think i got all the years i want. Maybe not all the body styles i want thought
Keep the 33 and borrow money to buy the 32 if it is such a great deal. I have always been a 33/34 guy, and own a 33 five window and a 34 three window, but I have been chasing down a 32 three window for awhile now...getting closer so we will see.
Whether you go '32 or '33 its value is only in what someone will pay you for it. With that said, think of it this way - A) there are plenty of gl*** '32's and '33's out there if one just looks for them.. B) no one knows whether your car is gl*** or steel at 15 - 30 or 70 MPH. C) (and I'm sure to wake up a few people with this) What does it matter ?, most people who go to car shows don't care about gl*** or steel anymore due to the high cost of building/driving/insuring an old car. Sell the '32 to me and your problems are solved !
Buy the 32. Ain't nuttin mo betta. If you don't , let me know where it is and I will. Put two identical cars together and the 32 will bring more cash than the 33. Just my 32 cents worth.
I'd keep the 33. You know what you have and what you don't. Sounds like you've already dug into the 33 a lot, so why lose that work? Just a FNG opinion.
If you ask me if I want a 33, I'll tell you yes, if you ask me if I want a 32 I'll tell you yes, but if is Henry original steel, do not hesitate, I think The Deuce is a cl***ic a**** cl***ics, the true American hot rod...
I've had a few '32s. But a Model 40 done right blows away most '32s. My next car will be a '33/'34 three-window with a heavy chop. That said, the way you are describing the cars, I would have to go with the '32 based on value.
If both cars sat side by side built identically in ever way, then I would say the Deuce would be worth more, but probably by only 3-4000. It's really personal preference. Me personally, I would go 32 everday and twice on sunday. But that's just me. Sure, the 33 is a nice car, but in my opinion, doesn't hold a candle to the Deuce. And for what it's worth to the person who says the deuce is a belly****on, let's be realistic, the 33-34 has been done in just as many ways as the deuce.
No brainer to sell the 40 and A model. I'd be embarr***ed to tell someone I stumped at the chance two own a 33 and 32 5 window because I didn't want to sell an A and 40! How many guys get the chance at both cars in steel? Let alone an opportunity to own both. Sent from my iPhone using the bet damn app on the planet!
If you've never had a 32, sell the 33 and get the deuce. You've already had fun with the 33 so p*** it on and try on something new. IMO, I'd sell them all and keep the Model A, so what do I know?
I just let this '32 go... And chose to keep this one... Not a tough decision, although I should have probibly kept them both - but that damn Automotive A.D.D. kicked in again!
