    Hello everyone.
This will be my attempt at an introduction.
My name is Dan and I’ve been in the automotive trade as a repair technician since 1976; opened my own repair shop in 1982 and I’m still at it today trying to make a living.

I’ve helped a number of family members, friends and customers rebuilt/restore their older “classics” but never seemed to have the time or cash to do one for myself.
Not until now anyway; I still don’t have bags of cash but I’ve just purchased a 1950 Chevrolet Styleline Deluxe. It’s a Canadian built car and has stood up fairly well or at the least has the potential in my opinion to be brought back to what it once was or possibly even better with some mods thrown at it?
That’s the reason for joining the board; I want to lean from people who have been there done that and to hopefully join in and help where I can.

    Thanks for the read.

    Dan.

    Thanks for the welcome.
Not really sure what direction I’m going with the car until it has had a chance to prove itself?
Right now the engine seems strong, transmission only has the “normal” howl in second gear (three speed manual); after pulling the differential cover to change oil and have a peek; the ware pattern on the crown & pinion looks good.
Structurally the car is solid and I only found small traces of body filler in a couple of panels. Steering & suspension is fairly tight with only what I think is called the idler arm king(?) pin that has a bit of play.
The initial idea of finding one of these Chevys was to modify/modernize drivetrain and suspension; but this car is already a driver and all original, that would not take much to restore instead of change.
So that’s where I am, spend money fixing what’s there and stay with 92hp or take the plunge and put money into a late model computer controlled injected engine, four speed auto trans and possibly changing the front suspension for a jag’s front clip? With them the options are almost unlimited for things like AC, cruise control, remote start, power steering and power disc brakes.
My one mission I do have is to keep as much as possible visually 1950; so that the average Joe Blow wouldn’t know the difference walking by and peeking into the interior.

    Dan.

Nice ride, I say leave alone, and change it only after the motor goes. Polish it up and drive it. Bet you could get some business driving it around. People see it and notice it still has the original drivetrain, they may well think, if he can keep a car this old running good; maybe he can keep my car running good also. Anyway, welcome from Ky.
