It's not a hotrod, but I drive my 66 F100 to work every day, and I'm a high school physics teacher.

To avoid the teenage drivers, I arrive early and wait until they're all gone to leave....otherwise it's just a matter of time before one of them runs into you.

The nice thing about having a 3 on the tree shifter is that the average car thief wouldn't know how to drive it if he tried to steal it.

And yeah....it makes the drive home on Friday after work seem like a little vacation. I've gotten to where I even kind of hope that I-45 north of Houston is jammed up so I can be in the 66 shortbox that much longer.

As soon as the 54 tudor is done, it'll be making the trek to work occasionally also.

By the time I get mine finished I'll be retired......:(
I'll never be able to drive it in and be the envy of all the other little fire-fighters.

    Damn.

I drive my chevy to work everyday. It's my only car. Or was until the other day ....

Pulled it down for new motor, gearbox, diff and suspension just to make it a bit more fun to drive every day.

  5. I drive Mercula everywhere on the weekends, but I'm worried about door dings in the work parking lot the spots are narrow...

I want to take a faux pic of me getting pulled over by 4 police cars someday, but I need some ossifers in there...

I did the DD thing for 5-6 years, 20 miles each way - From May 1 until Oct. 1. I moved to the city a few years ago, and began walking to work - People complain about their commute, hell - I missed driving!

Anyhow I scored a new job and it's a short drive but winter's coming... If you don't know, Pennsylvania roads, and Pittsburgh in particular are the worst. In my neighborhood in particular, you are either standing on the gas or standing on the brakes with all the steep hills, and they won't plow ANYTHING. My car has been hammered so many times from parking on the street  It has been hit three times in the past year.

So, the game plan is to get a rougher, not as nice DD and/or wait until we get a house with off street parking. I envy you guys though!

I drove my Anglia to work for years, when I was a school officer the kids would get in trouble so I would take them home in it! Never had a problem keeping the battery charged like now.

  11. I live and work from the same location, so what I do is take my 1941 Chevy truck out to lunch on a regular basis. Hank A. Monster dog joins me riding shotgun. We cruise a couple of miles into town, a different way back and we are good to go for a few days. The dog always looks at me when we return as if to say, "is that all there is?"

I gotta ask.. Is this just a Caddy front clip grafted on, or looking at the wheels, is the AD truck body on an Eldorado frame??

    BCCHOPIT- AWESOME!

Too much salt on the roads over our way. Car won't be taken out until spring. The stuff theyre using on the roads now isnt just salt anymore. Its chemicals and its literally eating away at cars like never seen before. my boyfriend is a full time mechanic and they are absolutely amazed at how fast cars are just rotting away now thanks to this "new" treatment for the roads in winter.

Was hoping to get the car out for a few more times this year but now they just forcasted a major nor-easter for saturday night...8-10+ inches of snow overnight. ARE THEY FLIPPEN CRAZY!!??!! It was just in the 80s/70s here a week or two ago! Christ; near hartford all the trees still are full with leaves!

Put a can or jar marked " Dan's '34 paint fund" and put it on your desk/ workbench/toolbox or near coke or coffee machine, when they open pie hole just point to the can/jar.

Dude, that truck needs that Eldo front end GONE----FAST! 8o

I drove my first old car when I was in HS. Most of the time, it wouldn't start or would just get stuck in the driveway during the winter, but several months later I found a trunk resembling swiss cheese, including the wheel well openings and around the door strikers... What a shame, that was stupid!

My brother drove his 48 F-1 last winter. It was a hair raising experience, and the sheetmetal was so thick there was no rust either. He said never again!

Driving one of my hot rods as a daily driver takes me back a few years, but it did happen; from the time I first went to work at 15, through college, then the 'work a day' grind for the next 30 years I drove my old Ford as an only car and daily driver; somewhere in the late 60's I started 'acquiring' more than one vehicle at a time, but still kept driving one of my old Fords (ranging from '28 through '40) to work and back, no matter what job I had. I pretty much had a "****'em if they don't like it!" at***ude and always preferred driving an old Ford hot rod that I built than anything else I owned at the time. I've owned a variety of Vettes and a '64 Impala SS, etc; they all got their turn on the road 'once and a while' on my days off; that's all they deserved compared to a good hot rod!

I have driven my 59 El Camino to work every day for a couple of weeks, this last summer while working on the o/t driver, but commuting up and down the S.F. peninsula every day, gets me a bit nervous at all the cell-phone talking, last nite's date texting, I gotta BMW and I'm so ****in cool, late for the investors meeting, putting on the eyeliner, eating a bowl of cereal, reading the newspaper, screw-it I don't have to pay attention to my driving, because other people will, at***ude, It's not really enjoyable, worrying about some clown rear-ending you or pulling into your lane without looking cause they got their turnsignal on -usually, kinda takes the enjoyment out of it. If I do work on a Saturday I always do drive it however.

Drove mine to work for the first time yesterday...Loved every minute of it! Eventhough it was about 35 degrees out yesterday morning, and I had to roll in with a window down so as not to choke myself on the fumes coming through the holes in the floor boards/fire wall!

Plus its a great way to blow off some steam after a ****ty day!

  26. It sounds like you have the same drivers i do. whenever i take my bike or willys i take a differnt route with less people. its also more scenic. but when i drive my isuzu i just get on the highway with all the other bad drivers. i once a guy with a brand new mercedes start merging into me in this construction area. even though the most of us merged a ways back before we had to you still get those "people" that will use that extra lane and speed ahead of people. that really pisses me off. but anyway he started coming over like i was just gona move or slow down to let him him...NOPE. my thought was bring it over im not afraid of a little paint swap. but i sure as hell bet you are. well he had to stop since he was running out lane and wait for someone nicer then me.:D

I used to drive my hot rod and custom F100 to work all the time, but can't do that any more. They let me retire HA HA! and and moved 1000 miles south, so I drive my cars any time I want. :)

I drive my O/T lowrider he**** as much as I can, including to work (in the summer months). All my coworkers are gearheads and own either Rods or Harleys. It comes with the turf since we are the largest semi truck wrecker in Western Canada and likely the western Continent. I do it since it gets better mileage than my new Dodge 4x4. Point being when the 55 is done someday I will cruise that too to work, probably again with better mileage. The other thing I take to work is my Big Red Horse (in the avatar with the boss' 31 Chev)
