I'm in the hunt for some blue lexan for my Stude g***er. I've tried local plastic companys and sign shops in the St Louis area and come up with "They don't make it". NHRA does not like plexigl***, so that is not an option. I may have to use another color as some are available in Lexan. Anybody have any leads???????

You might have to settle for the smoke grey or solar bronze tints. They make these colors for solar panels and outside window displays . You'll probably have to go to a fairly large sheet plastics supplier to get this.

  3. What about tint film? I just swapped a set of relatively solid '85 rear doors from one beater van to the next one, and they have a poorly applied purple colored tint film on the gl*** - the same thing as black window tint, but a transparent purple color. I'm actually curious where to get more of that, as I'd like to scare some up for my '50 Chevy's side gl***. Maybe it comes in other colors too.

I heard that the film over lexan/plexigl*** does not work as the plastic emits a gas or something that causes the film to bubble. Thanks to everyone for the leads and info.

hmmm, that causes me to pause. but only for a moment...

tomorrow we are tinting the Lexan windows on the Henry J. They will be blue.

I hope it doesn't end up looking like ****. Tinting is a big job.

I wonder, has anybody ever tried to spray a tinted clear over clear plexi or lexan to get that "tinted" effect? Maybe it wouldn't stick? I've never tried it, but I haven't been able to find any good green tint for my g***er.....so maybe I'll try a sample.

  9. Try Sabic look them up on line. They used to be GE Polimers but got sold to the Arabs when GE decided they needed to look Green. They have a place here in KC but I am sure that they have a place on your side of the state as well. When the wife was working for GE they shared a building and she could get a deal from them and it was still about 800.00 a sheet for tinted lexan. They told her that our best bet for tinted lexan was to buy clear and put window tint on it. I wanted Amber at the time.

  12. I doubt if you'll like the results. I'm betting you'll get a cloudy finish and it won't be optically clear.

They have blue (as well as other colors) transparent vinyl that sign makers use that should work.

  15. Don't make this any harder than it has to be. ;)

On my old ride, I bought lexan from my local Lowes home center and some blue window tint from Summit Racing. It's Gila brand tint that the tuner crowd uses on their import buzz-bombs. Cheap and effective!

  20. How long was it on there? Did the bubbles ever show up from "outg***ing" of the Lexan?

I'm reconsidering blue lexan as availabilty seems to be non-existant. I may consider yellow or orange. Does anyone know if it is available? I have not contactact the sources mentioned for this color and will call them on Monday. Thanks

Motown Automotive Design has "g***er window tint" in many colors, including blue. A roll 30 inches wide,25 feet long is 100.00.
    They have an e-bay store

Just called Sabic in Chicago and they have 1/8" yellow 76" x 100" For $300.00. Might go that route if nothing else comes my way as I'm starting to like yellow verses blue.
