I have tried searching but couldn't come up with anything. I am building my own bracket now to mount my master under my dash in my 54 chevy. Its going to replicate slightly the kuegel one,at least I'm using some of the design. Iam just curious to what others have done and looking to see if there are better ideas out there. So if anyone has any pics put em up!
On the second from the last page I have a picture that sort of shows how I did mine. It's actually such a simple design. You need to build a bell crank of a simple design. I attached an early clutch brake rod and pedal ***embly and cut the levers off the brake and then cut the lever on the clutch at about 5" and welded the brake lever back on at a 90 degree angle to creat a 90 degree L . This was my bell crank that made forward motion change to side motion. Like I said, its a very simplistic design once you get the concept. The Kuegel is just a more refined design. Just make sure when you build, pay attention to the weakest link on the Kuegle and make yours stronger than their weakest link. The cool thing is my Hotrod has such a deep cowl that the whole power brake unit fit with no problem. I had it mounted on the frame and it just couldn't fit so I cut the bracket off and re-thought where to mount it. It's just bolted to the firewall loosely and will be taken back out and cleaned up before permanently mounting it and fixing up the bracket. http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii281/sixt8bird/The%201929%20Willys%20Whippet/
I pulled a complete ***embly out of a 1971 Ford Econoline van because it resembled the Kugel one and only cost me $20. I still have it in my storage unit complete with booster, master cyl, brackets, pedal ***embly and all if your interested. I just haven't had the right project to put it on yet. Shoot me a PM or I can take a pic this weekend with measurements. Terry
check out ELpolacko's post in this thread, you may have to check out the other pages to get more details on it. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=404411&page=8 later jim
I know You asked for pics that werent the Kuegel, but thats what im doing now in my 54, not sure if you want pics but if so I can maybe snap some this weekend
Yeah I would like to see how you mounted it, if you have some time. The one Im making is really close to it anyhow, hell I would buy one if I had the dough. I just have more time than money and access to materials and have the tools so why not!I can give you my cell # and you can send em through that so you dont have go through all uploading......
This is the deal I made for my roadster. It's a 3x5 tube steel section with some angle iron on the back to hang the modified '82 S10 brake pedal, 1/2" steel for the bell crank, Corvette style master cylinder, forged yoke and heim joints from Speedway. It's mounted to 1/2 x 1/2 tubes which span the cowl and are bonded to the body. Sorry, no pics before it was installed.
nice job thanks for the pics, i just finished the main part of the bracket now I have to figure out the bellcrank. That was one of the things about the kuegel one that i wasent sure of, it looks like the shaft is riding on the bolt only from one side? That seems like a weak link to me, I may try and use bearings or a bronze bushing or something that rides all the way through.
I did use bronze bushings in the pivot shaft. It's a 1/2" bolt with same i.d. bushings and the shaft is some tube I had left over from my rear 4 bar. I don't remember the tube's i.d. but I did have to drill it out some to fit the bushing. I also used a bolt long enough so the bushings would ride on the shank of the bolt, not the threads.
my reply sounded bad after I reread it, I like how yours looks as it goes all the way through.sorry if I implied differently i did not mean it to sound that way, what I should have said was.....looking at the kuegel it looks as though the bolt only holds it on the bottom end and does not go all the way through.
I didn't take it negetively and my descption of my setup wasn't real complete. I've got thicker skin than to be upset over someone needing clarification.I'm not familiar with the Keugel setup but seems to me a pivot point like a bell crank should have a double sheer mount.
At the end of my so called build thread I have some pics of the bracket I have started. I will get some more up as I go. Ultimately my plan is to utilize a cast Ibeam pedal setup from a 55-59 chevy truck. Hopefully it works out,we will see......take a peak if youd like to http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=582554
