Im not sure if this is OK or not but I just got an email with this saw on it. I got one of these by a different manufacturer and they work awesome for cutting all kinds of metal. I used it for cutting a ton of 1/2" square tubing, sheet metal etc. I paid double but it looks exactly the same. The only thing I didn't care too much about it is that it throws very minute chips so you need to wear gloves and eye protection is a must. Its a pretty cool saw for fabbing with metal. Just thought I'd share this to help out some of you fabricators.. If you click on the link and watch the video, it shows you how it works and if you click on Coupon, it will bring up the sale price. Anyway, its a real hand saw. I think I would have used this for part of my chop if I had it back then. http://www.harborfreight.com/double...product_video&utm_source=winch-doublecut-1004 If you have this type of saw, lets see what you use it for with your cars. It also cuts exhaust pipe totally clean.
I have used a metal cutting saw blade on my 15" chop saw with excelent results on light steel. (1/8" and less) Lasts a long time. About $90. Makes a better cut than the abrasive blade and lasts longer. When cutting 1" solid stock, it wiped the teeth off! Too much heat.
Interesting tool. As much as I like my 3" air cut-off tool, the mess of the discs really ****s. I would just question the durability of "Chicago Electric"
We have a "evolution" saw in welding cl***, and it is just plain awesome. you can cut a piece of 1/4 or thicker wall steel/SS tubing like a hot knife through ****er....with a nice sharp clean edge, but yes you NEED safety gl***es and a face shield when using it.
3 years ago I would have agreed with you, but I'm hard on angle grinders and I've burned up Dewalt, Craftsman, and a Bosch. My little blue 15 dollar HF one has outlasted all of them. This little doublecut guy intrigues me..
I have a Craftsman Twin-Cutter which is the original version of that HF saw. Too much RPM for steel or stainless. You will kill those blades in short order. It is AWESOME for aluminum but boy does it throw chips EVERYWHERE! Also, you cannot get it in any kind of a twist or it will destroy the blades instantly. Yes, it is loud as HELL...even when it's not cutting anything.
Not even 1/8". I cut 18 guage like ****er . The coo; thing is there is no kick back, no edge like when you cut with an abrasive wheel, it doesn't grab the metal and pull up, it just cuts. Its something to get use to but its one of those tools that has its purpose and it just rips through tubing and sheet metal. Yes its a bit loud but so are abrasive grinders. The metal also stays super cool as it doesn't wear it away. For the price, its a steel (Pun intended).
have a Milwaukee circular saw for metal...awesome...clean cuts...haven't cut anything over 3/16' but at that it still has plenty of poop!
I've burned up 5 harbor freight angle grinders, I've got a dewalt I've been using for ten years and never had any problems with it.
saw this saw couple years ago when i awoke on the couch at 3 am with an Australian pitchman. It looked awesome, but seems the concept does work. I have to tell mama about this for xmas...
