ok hemi gurus , got a question whats the best oil and weight you recommend for a street driven 354 w 2-4,s:??
I guess it all depends on your build. Usually I'd be thinkin either straight 40 weight or a 20-50 for a street motor..
cool dreddy bear , i was thinking 20 - 50 also its basically stock with a weiand and 2-4,swith 30 over pistons old 354 truck motor in my 31 '
This stuff. It just replaces what used to come standard in our oil. http://www.eastwood.com/ew-zddp-oil-additive-4-oz.html
JEEZUZ !!!! 20w-50 ? WHY? a stock motor isn't designed for that viscous a fluid. 10w-30 or SAE 30 with ZDDP
This probably gets asked a lot but it is SO important to take the oil in your motor seriously (unless you're into premature rebuilds). I recommend this oil: http://www.cl***iccarmotoroil.com/ READ the articles and other info on this site. Good luck with it.
There's also some good info on the Valvoline web site at this address--- http://www.valvoline.com/faqs/motor-oil/racing-oil/
I have used Shell Rotella 15W40 in all of my unrebuilt old engines - Then 10W30 synthetic (whatevers on sale) on my rebuilt motors. I can't see any reason to use single weight oil unless the motor is shot. I am not driving a lawn mower.
...after the first 1000 miles of break-in I would use one of the 15-40 diesel oils, pick your brand. Use Brad Penn 30w for break-in. .
Been running the 15-40 Traveller Diesel oil for 10 years in my MOPAR engine. No Problems. But I used Stock cam and lifters. I buy it in gallons, andtransfer someto quart bottles for the trunk as I have some leaks.
