I just put an 8.8 out of an 01 exploder in my 36 chevy 5 window, 31 spline, limited slip, and a ton of gear options. I am using 4.11 in mine behind a T56 6 six speed. Mine came with disc brakes, the older ones had drums. I bought two rear ends for under $200, these rears have off set diffs. Pull the axles and use both short ones, just have to narrow the long tube or remove the short tube off the rear your not using and install it on the good one. This narrows the rear around 3 inches and centers the dif up. I would have to measure but the final width is around 56.5?

From my reading this rear is similar to the 12 bolt chevy, uses some of the same bearing if I remember right. The axles are stout. The Lincoln Verada(?) has a great 9 inch but good luck finding one. Dont see many Mavericks around lately either.

  3. My '36 Ford accepted a '64 Oldsmobile rear end. It was narrowed 7", stuck big Ford axle bearings into the new tubes and used big Econoline rear brakes with Mosher axles.
Also went with a pair of parallel leafs that a local spring shop made for me with the dearched package.
    Then.......................it just bolted right in.
