Just wondering where all the street driven vehicles were....lots of cool trailered racers there. I went there and raced for the first time EVER with my 65' Biscayne in the Rebel Rod cl*** (street rods, muscle cars, etc...) and there was maybe 6 cars in the whole cl*** (not all "street" rods btw). WTH? Where you guys at??? It was still an awesome time and I thank Sam for coordinating the event. I'll be back next year and hope all the other bozos in the local area will be there too... I was eliminated in the 1st round if anyone cares..... Beat my dial in on my 3rd run EVER!! (could have used some pointers)
Hooley ran the Henry J (Okie Twister). I think he won Jr. Eliminator. He said it was a great day. John
I noticed your '65 Biscayne there in the pit area. I've always had a thing for those 2-door sedans. Cool looking car. I've got the red Chevy II with the altered wheelbase and front tube axle. I was pitted next to Hooley and his Henry J. It was a fun race day, wasn't it?
It was pretty awesome. I just wish I got there sooner when the track was cold to get some more runs in. I ran just over 9.8 my first two runs and set my dial in at 9.80. I my mind I set my "goal" at 9.7 figuring I would get close to 9.80 and ended up running a 9.3 so I was done for the day.
"Back in the day", around 67-68, my dad had a used car lot. He traded for a plain jayne 65 Biscayne 4 door that had a factory big block (396??) and four speed. Talk about the ulitimate sleeper! To this day, I still wonder if it was mistakenly ordered as a four door or not. PS: My older brother terrorized the town in it until someone called our mom!
