History FOUND!!!!!!! Stolen roadster Bakersfield,Ca October 26th 2011

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Weeks46, Oct 27, 2011.

  1. 14 hr day out in the oilfields today for me, as KaddyKimber said the car has been found. The sheriff's department located it supposedly. The Model A club was outta town on a "tour" this weekend so I heard all about it at our weekly sunday night coffee. I was extatic to get a text message from the club president telling me it had been found. I am imagining after the car was stolen the amount of media exposure and people who were on the lookout scared the theives into dumping the car. Thank you for all the help everyone I am sure all the good words on here played a hand in its return. Have a good night everyone.-Weeks

Can Weeks46 get back on and confirm this story.

Seems like a lot of cars go missing around big shows. I know they say it was taken from thier home, but it was the weekend of Bakersfield. Bowling Green also, Grand National in Pomona earlier this year. Sounds like someone knows when to go hunting for cars. Any other stories of theives around the big shows. Hate to have to leave our cars home for fear of being stolen even at car shows and hotels etc.

Thanks Weeks! I do think that with the word out, the thieves have no place to go. Could be why they decided to go for a stocker.

Keep up the pressure on the thieves, and maybe they will start to leave us alone.

Thank God. This is great new that the couple got their car back. Too bad a bunch of us couldn't have found it and made sure that they would think very hard about stealing anything again.

I did not like that show because of the undue stress it put upon owners, I was expecting violence or a heart attack anytime. Chip lost some brownie points with many people over that shows concept of stealing cars.

Hopefully they were armed and resisted arrest and suffered fatal injury, not out on bail before cops had paperwork done.

    Potomac Ave.
East Side. Edison and Mt. Vernon area.
Had a work truck stole out there one time. Sheriff said it would turn up, that they would just use the truck to commit another crime.
Sure enough. Few days later found in a Orange Orchard. They had used to bust a gate and steal fertilizer chemicals along Edison Hwy.

  15. That's really great news!!!

Yup. That area is another world. So I guess that there are two good points about Potomac: The couple with the a and La Colonia. If it weren't for the great food at La Colonia, I would never venture down that street. Even then, I'm in and out as quickly as possible. Some people say that times are changing. Times changed a while back in that part of town. It's too bad this couple hasn't found their way out of the old neighborhood yet.

  17. Wow! Great news! I know only too well what it feels like to have your model A stolen...especially when it'd been a family member since it was bought new in '30. When my dad died I inherited the family 1930 model A closed cab pickup. I left Omaha to pick it up in Oregon as soon as the snows melted off the Rocky mountain passes...waited too late. When I got there with truck and trailer it was gone. I filed a report with the local police and it was put on the NCIC hot sheet...that was back in 2005 and I've never heard a word about it.
    Just makes you feel sick..

It's an FNG thing, they have to learn like the rest of us did to read the whole thread or at least the last couple of pages before posting an answer.

It does look like the power of the internet may have caused the thieves to dump the car in the field. I just hope the owners keep it in a more secure spot or do something to make their garage more secure.

This is simply outstanding news. :) We could certainly use many more stories with happy endings these days, as opposed to the constant barrage of doom and gloom on the TV and radio. You're a good man Weeks, and thanks to Kimber, too... :)

  28. great news!!!!!!!

  29. yeah....my wife used to talk about calling the Foose show to have them finish my car for me and I'd tell her, "Don't you dare!!"

Those goobers would put 21" rims under it with o-ring tires and make it look like every other power-parking-poser at any given Goodguys show.

On topic....I'm REALLY glad they found the AR. I have a soft spot in my heart for stocker A's. I want one BAD.
