O'Brien Truckers vs. Mother Nature

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by 59BuickWagon, Oct 31, 2011.

  1. She won:(

So we got a foot of snow (1st time ever in Oct.)

Well it's done a whole bunch of damage around here - made Irene look like a woosssy summer shower.

No phone or electricity - probably till the end of the week.

If you need anything all 508-248-1555 and leave a message we're still shipping stuff.

    Happy Truckin!

Believe it or not I got sunburnt a week ago whilst out at an event and then had to turn on the heaters this week and we are in Spring.

No damaged lines in my part of town, but power was out 36 hours. No woodstove or generator, so last night was miserable. I actually opened the doors and windows today to let it warm up in there.

Got it back at mid afternoon today and had been planning on sleeping in the shop next to the woodstove.

2 major power outs in two months. Now we will put 2 spare woodstoves in the house AND buy a generator as soon as they can be found around here.

Connecticut Light and Power was already being investigated for the prior mismanagement of the last storm.

Looks like you got it worse than us up here in east central Ma. We "only" got about 7" or so, but we lost a lot of limbs and bushes. Fitchburg swap is a long long way off...:mad::mad:

Im only about 20 miles west of his location and i am sure it is bad there.

We just had a tornado rip through the area and now this. Oh and there was Irene too. Trees are down everywhere, its a mess. Could be 5-7 days without power. Several entire towns dont have power.

  18. I guess we got outta Dodge just in time.We left Tewksbury on Wednesday morning to come back home and it was a little cool but still nice driving weather. Was going to give you a shout when we went past the Charlton exit but my phone wouldn't get a signal. The whole week before was great.
We did hit some snow in upstate New York(around Cuba)but it wasn't sticking.I've tried calling my son(he lives in Lowell) but haven't got through yet.
Hang in there Dennis and hope to talk with you soon.

The word is no power for about a week here. Winter ****s and being about 7 weeks early ****s even more. The cities even cancelled Halloween for all the trick or treaters.

4th day without power. Thankfully, I have a generator. But obtaining fuel is an absolute nightmare...

I'm in CT, most of the area is without power. I have power, but I'm on the same (priority) grid as the hospital down the street. We have been letting friends take showers, check email, etc.

Talk about an instant winter. I need to move back to So Cal, geesh

Im glad you guys didnt suffer any major damage ,we had a bad Oct storm here in Buffalo in 2006 lots of damage and power loss i know what you are going through,Thoughts and prayers for all affected from The Lost Kustoms cc

  27. OK, we're back on line - finally!

We got juice a couple of days ago but just got Internet access back ten minutes ago so here I am checking on the HAMB;)

We lost a couple dozen trees but they luckily all fell the right way.

Per this morning's newspaper 24% of the homes in our town were without electricity - but that's a lot better than other M***. and Conn. towns, some of which are ~100% without electricity 6 days after the storm (it started snowing here around 8 PM last Saturday the 29th of October.)

Thanks to my smartphome we were able to access and manually process orders received off our new web site and the phone so business has been proceeding OK. A few plaque orders were a few days late because the foundry lost electricity too - but we're up and running now.

Thanks for all the encouraging words...

    Happy Truckin',

    Dennis & Sue
