Ok...so Im running some 16" steelies and am wondering waht hubcaps will fit this wheel other than the early Ford types and the moon disc type? Lets see your kombos if ya got em or hear your thoughts..... Rat
Not sure what caps they are but the rears are 16's. BTW, know where I can get a set of 16" rims with a Ford bolt pattern? (to fit an 8" rear)
International 1/2 ton pickups have 4 1/2" bolt patern 16s, same as later fords, and take 40-48 hubcaps to boot! i run them on the rear ofn mine.(mustang rear end) hey bastad, I reckon IH hubcaps would be cool,in a farmer joe kinda way......im after some, they have the IH symbol in red and black on a fairly flat smooth chrome cap. Got a set of 'FORD DELUXE' caps too, might paint the letters red and bang all the dints out.you can try em if you want.
LS...I got some o those Ford Deluxe ones and a set of 46 caps as well. Im wonderin if I can score somethin off a 50s ride that will go on. I reckon Im not have much luck b/c its a 16" rim. Most of the 50s stuff was 14" or 15". Id love a set of Caddy caps ...or esp some 57 Ply caps, but theyre all 14"s Im pretty sure. BTT Rat
Hey Steve...not sure what they look like, but I could be interested. Do u have any pix mate? What kinda nick are they in ? Are they the cone like caps that Ive seen in 14" diameter? Rat
Im runnin '41 pickup caps and ribbed trims on my roadster- -with 48 ford frt wheels and 48 Lincoln rear wheels....
These are a set of the pre-war flippers for some other brand of car. Remove the back of a dented up set of 40's Ford hub caps and weld them to the backing of what ever hub cap you like. Basically adapt the hub cap that you like to fit the steelie wheel.
I was going to put 1946 Ford caps and rings on the B-32 bomber 3w untill I saw Grimlok's Spun Aero Discs. Man! Those ****ers look like they belong on a WWII aircraft. Grimlok, if yer listening, I need a set. Larry
Hey Rat, the opening in the wheel will determine the type of center cap you can use. There are a couple of different sizes out there, it just depends on how big the opening in the wheel is for the cap. We have some that are seven inch, some that are 7.5 inch and some that are 8 1/4". That dimension is where the cap will attach to the wheel. We may have some that will work, or we can help you find some if you can tell us which size you've got. You can e-mail me to patrickm@coker.com and I'll be happy to help if I can.
I've got these Lyon metal whitewalls from the 40's that I bought for my '40 Chrysler. They're painted steel and they snap onto the rim to look like whitewall tires. Something different, I guess they were popular when tire shortages made whitewalls expensive. I'm not going to use them if anyone wants them. They're new, only been put on my car, never been on the road. Damn it, I need to finish this car. I'm going back out to the shop right now.
Early 1949 ford's came out with 16" with a 5 on 4 1/2" pattern, but the tabs are on the outside of the center, so you would have to run the 49-51 and up type caps. For me, i'm going to run 1947 merc monarch caps on my 48 merc. by this summer, if i get the bugs worked out of it.
I have 2 of these 5 on 4 1/2 16 inchers. Some kind of Dodge I believe. I would like to find 2 more 16s, I have seen plenty of 17s.
Hey kool responses here.... Steve you have mail. Motherland? He he...I've heard Oz called worse.... Steve waiting for your detail.....
I bought a set of these in 15" for my '51 Fleetline, but they are also available in 16" ... They are one piece stainless caps, and available from JC Whitney (!). Try early Mopar. They have some little clips that hold the caps, but I think you could weld up some nubs for the Ford caps. Got some, just haven't tried my plan yet.
