I am planning on steel wheel's for my 55 chev & wanted reverse style but wheel co's say no! o.e style wheels is what I want, reverse will not look right? I dont know why they wont look right?does it have to do with the offset on the reverse wheel? I want alot of dish look but yet want them tucked in,so the b/s is also a big issue,I am going with 15X6'S as far as size goes, but need to see some photos of reverse chrome or o.e style wheels on some 55-56 chevies. Car is lowered 2" front & rear for now. Anybody have any photos of these wheels on some 55-56's?and correct b/s advice.thanks, xtralow
I likey alot! and thats the look I want, are you runnin reverse up front too?....Thanks Boones! Anymore out there?
God I hate when parts folks try to tell you what you need. It's not their job to tell me their opinions...it's there job to take my money and give me a product in return...preferable with their mouths closed! That said, I've seen a few 55's around here with 'em and I think it's sharp!
I can't state much about rims for your application but I can say that I received my Wheel Vintiques OE Chrome rims today and they are sweet! They are not "true" reversed rims but, man, I dig them! Seem to be nice quality. I will find out how they hold up. The ones I purchased are 15 X 7 with a 4-1/4" back space if it matters. It may be something worth looking into. No pictures for you though, too tired, too late and too many beers left.
The reason we turn people away from a reversed wheel is typically the time it will take to have it made. I think the wheel companies are telling you no because they won't build a reversed wheel that has an offset that will tuck the wheel in. It can be done if that's what you want. If you'll look through our customers gallery I think we've got some 55-57's with the OE style GM wheels. Unless the lowered car is different, the backspacing should be around 3 1/2" on the stock six inch wheel. Feel free to e-mail me at patrickm@coker.com if there is a way I can help you. Patrick
