I'm torn on his car. On one hand I like the OG "patina" (such a gay word), and on the other hand I'm digging the "green" primer! Hurry and shoot it all damn-it! :D

  4. As cool as the "patina" was, it's not quite what Dave was going for. You don't see very many elegant cl***y customs with rusty sheet metal.
It looked more like an old car that was just pulled out of the bush, than a custom with it's patina paint.

  9. So tonight after enjoying some delicious ****y mushroom tortellini from Bucas Pasta we got to work on the T-Bird. Most of you have probably never seen the T-Bird, but it has been a project of mine for almost 2 years now. It belongs to my Dad, and he asked me to paint it for him. It kind of snow balled out of hand....
To start all the emblems were shaved, handles, trim etc... New floors, one new 1/4 panel. Welded in fender skirts. All the body lines have been flared with 1/4 round bar and filled with lead, and the most obvious, the 3" chop. It kept getting put on the back burner with my roadster build, but now the roadster is road worthy and has a few thousand miles on it, it's time to finish the Bird off.

Charlie and Johnny tackled the front end, bolting the fenders and hood back on, and lining up all the panels.

On the weekend I was trying to fit the gl***, but gravity was being a *****, so I had to wait until tonight for an extra set of hands. Dave and I tackled the back welding in the rest of the window frame, and making a new parcel shelf.

I made the pieces, and Dave welded them in
    [IMG]

And then for some reason Johnny tried to stab me?

And then Dave attacked Charlie? WTF?

And then Dave dressed up like a girl....again.

Once the package tray and rear window were fit, Dave and I grabbed this tonneau cover I had from a 65 convertable and trimmed it to fit in where the back seat used to be. With the 3" chop, and the roof moved ahead 6" there was little room for a back seat anyways. This will be a permanent piece.

Big **** Dave is now just regular **** Dave...

  10. Charlie took a nap... or maybe he is still p***ed out from Dave strangling him? I dunno, I was busy cutting ****....

We got it trimmed enough to fit in there, but it still needs a bit more work yet. I want to put the seats in now and see how close or far away it is from the seats before I trim anymore.

    Back window in place...

We didn't go too crazy tonight. By 10:30 everything was all cleaned up and we just kind of hung out.

Thanks for the update Lee. The T-Bird is going to be cool. I really like the tonneau cover idea for behind the seats it will make it very slick.

Oh and my condolences to Dave and his ****:(

That bird is really cool. I couldn't really see the chop until the front sheet metal was back on. Makes for a really clean chopped look!

    Whats up ****ers? Carry on

  18. Oh hey guys,
Tonight was a pretty productive night, but we kind of dropped the ball on pictures, sorry. We did get some though, just not very many towards the end of the night.
Anyways Johnny bought us some Tokyo Express to chow down on before moving 3 cars around so we had room to work on the T roadster.

After the shuffle we mocked the ch***is up with the rear end to do final fitting and welding of the ladder bar mounts.

This involved removing the transmission mount

Daves doctor told him this exercise will help him "tighten up"

While we were doing that, Charlie went to town porting Johnny's camel hump heads.

While Dave was welding, Johnny and I started stripping all the bits off the 40 ford front end to swap on to his dropped and drilled model A axle.

Sasha came by late on and gave us a hand.

And this is where the picture ball was dropped.....
Dave got the brackets welded to the X member, and most of the welding done on the rearend, but unfortunately the Tig ran out of gas....
Johnny and Sasha and I got the 40 front end completely stripped except for the spindles. Were gonna let them soak in penetraiting oil for a few weeks...
Charlie got 4 intake ports done on the heads.

    Anyways, thats all for now!

Sounds good. I was there around 11:00ish and didn't see your truck, maybe you had stepped out.

  22. Hey guys,
So last night was Daves night. For supper he bought us some KFC to give us some energy to cut the **** out of his fleetline. We had a guest tonight, Rene Seager, A Prince George hot rodder who is in Edmonton getting some cancer treatment. Rene was bored so he figured he come down and see what were all about.

Dave has been talking about different ideas for his 1/4 panels, and on Tuesday he finally decided on one. He wants to extend them back and on an angle, to kind of look like a 51 Mercury. That was my task for tonight.

Dave and I made a rough cardboard version to get a visual of what it would look like.

Charlie grabbed the D/A sander and started sanding more of the body down, and fixing dents along the way.

Johnny grabbed the welder and started welding up trim hols along the rockers
    [IMG]

Here I am giving Charlie a quick crash course on how to use a file to find low spots
    [IMG]

  23. Back to the 1/4 panels
    [IMG]

Now there has been some concerns lately about safety. Not so much here on the HAMB, mostly on the other forum we post on. Dave brought over some PPE for me because he knew I would have the grinder out again tonight.
Snell fullface helmet, and some bubblewrap!

Even Fred had his PPE on.

    Johnny too
    [IMG]

With all the safety taken care, we went back to work. I made a new bottom section of the 1/4, and extended it back 4". The top I moved back 3" and then shaped a new filler section to fill the gap.

    Charlies PPE
    [IMG]

Dave puttying a couple low spots....

We didn't get any primer on it last night, and I still have a lot of metal work left on the 1/4, but it was getting late, so we decided to clean up.

Stay tuned next week, for more!

HAHAHA, Fred looks like he's about to turn his Fruit Of The Looms into a fudge factory. KFC rules but I'm a little confused.................North of the border does it stand for Kanadian Fried Chicken?

Ahhh, it's good to see Fred again. He's lookin' his usual chipper self. I see no gratuitous Big **** Dave crotch shots this week....good. It will be interesting to see the development of that quarter panel in a few weeks.
