I don't normally put in links to Ebay but this one will make you cry. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4552393473&fromMakeTrack=true Been in a bad smash at some time.
yeah,i saw that and cried at the starting bid! jesus there aint a damn piece outside that hasnt been damaged...
Someone would be better off with a few sheets of 20ga, a big hammer, and a pictures of a 36! *ouch!* regards, Doug
As bad as it looks I'll bet it will make a comback. Someone with some serious talent will take up the challenge and you'll see it in some magazine. I can see it now something like "And they said it couldn't be saved". Choprods, Metalshapes, got any spare time? Frank
A friend of mine did up a 32 3 window a few years ago for a guy that was slammed hard in the rear. It was rear ended by a truck wayyyy back in the 50's and left to die. I saw pics of it when he started.. The whole back of the car was where the seat back was, and the roof was bent about a foot up from where it was supposed to be.. Long story short, he rebuilt it.. And did one hell of a job on it! The car has actually been in magazines since it's rebirth.. Silver, full fendered, chopped, red gut, running a 502 and sprints.. I would have NEVER thought this car could be put back together... Boy was i wrong! This one looks a little worse because the roof is stuffed down, but the amount of work would probably be close.
This is what I started out with on my 36. It was the only way I could afford to do a three window. But you know what they say. More time than money. If I get off my *** today I'll post some pics of how its coming along.
Couple days with a bump hammer and dolly and she'd be right back on track. Seriously if it was rare enough or you wanted it bad enough that car could be saved. I saw a 36 sedan delivery that had less going for it than that end up being a jaw dropper in the hands of a very skilled artist, and it took less than a year.
Like my boss says, "I would rather work with bent and dented material that hasnt been "repaired" than to try and bring back rusty screendoors!" We have fixed worse at A&A, I would love to see that get fixed in our shop.
