I got a litle further with my Harry Bradley 40 Mercury project. The rear fenders are resin 40 Mercury units (the only parts froma the resin 40 Merc I liked) Front fenders from a 39 Chevy where used to make the the right shape and lenght as the Bradley Merc (which is 3 inch longer than stock 40 Merc) First coats of filler and some after some sanding, this is how it now looks. Even though it now starts to look like something it needs so much work to look like the real thing. The whole back was covered in a thin coat of filler which still has to be reshaped along the sides to create the Merc lines.
Just started this one. First model I have done in fifteen years. '50 Chevy pickup, everything smoothed and shaved but door handles, WWW with Lancer caps, 409 porcupine motor, and lakes pipes. Color is called Willow satin. Is it okay to use wood filler as body filler? Gierhed
don't know, never tried it. I'd be afraid it would shrink over time. Is it okay to use wood filler as body filler? Gierhed[/QUOTE]
If it seems to stick to the plastic, i'm sure it would be fine. It might be a bit porous (they are made to take stain), when you try to primer or paint it might **** it up like a sponge.
I got bored last week.... there not models, just little hotwheels cars, didn't like the high stance and all the yellow/gold on the milk truck, thought I could make it better. I taped off what I didn't want to paint and sprayed it with some satin black. Did a little custom lowering after that. I also messed around with jesse james' chevy. I couldn't find the black one in the store, it only came in green. I changed the wheels on one of them and two-toned the other. Before and Afters:
Heres a new one I just started. What do ya think? I'm thinking of channeling the hell out of it........
ok so i'm a day late but heres what i've been working on this past week. It's the abandon merc i picked up recently. I sat it next to a stock merc so you could see how much work the previous builder put into it. keith
I'm a day late... as usual. I showed up late to the model car tables at Paso on Saturday. Too late for regular judging, but Von Franco picked my '34 Coupe as his "Coolest Ratrod" pick, so I'm pretty pleased. Hope you guys dig it:
