can anybody help me i know i seen an article in one of the mags on how to rebuild those old friction shocks, i cant find it in any of my mags. does anybody else remember seeing this or am i just losing my mind.(old age setting in) thanks
Just what are you calling old friction shocks? Many think 1928-48 Ford Houdaille lever arm hydraulic shocks are frictions as well as those crazy Roto-....shocks from England and others. The era of friction shocks was from 1900-30 or so on factory cars and many variations of them from the aftermarket as well.
39-40 ford just wandering how hard it would be to rebuild them. i know i have seen it somewhere in a mag on how to rebuild them.
Those are hydraulic shocks. Nothing hard about rebuilding them. Getting them apart is the hard part. Do a search. There is an old mag article posted that shows how...
Lot's of specialized tools as I remember. Alchemy posted a link to a detailed rebuild article a while back.
Again. http://www.tocmp.com/manuals/Ford/Haudaille/index.html As you can see it's really easy to rebuild them. if you have all the right tools. But I seem to have missplaced my HEC-3224.
I'm a die hard do it yourselfer but I bought rebuilt units after trying for a few hours to get them apart. They are not a Harry homeowner rebuildable part. IMHO
