Little high but Ive seen them vary in price greatly on ebay and localy friends selling them. It depends if it has been rebuilt latley same as the trans. They are not cheap rebuilds but that goes with any nonSBC.
I'd try to find a whole car, that has some other problem, rusted wrecked etc, preferably 65-6, I've bought a bunch like this for under $500 al though admittedly the selection is not what it used to be.
Seems to me this a pretty good deal. I dont think its cheap, but its not too much either. Kinda like the going rate I guess.
A couple of miles from me is a complete 66 Riveria with a nice running 401. Car is straight with very little rot. Take it home for $500. Im considering doing just that. The owner said it was a 401 anyway, I would have expected a 425??
buying a whole car is definately the way to go if possible. i was watching this one but it was too far from me. i guess maybe i should have given a heads-up on it...
hey if all the brackets and stuff is with the motor it has a th400 trans in 64 that sounds good and you don't have to get rid of the car the way you would if you biught one
