What is the best way of dealing with pin holes along weld lines? I just had my 28 sedan blasted and of course the pin holes show. The body is now raw What is the best way to go up to the stages now? I don't really want to weld again now. Thanks
SEM makes a two part metal weld epoxy that works great,but you could just use regular old JB Weld to fill them....
Hey, Yes, you can fill over these holes with seam sealer, filler, putty, resin & mat, but over time, moisture will work thru and rust will begin again. Why not take the time, now & fix them correctly? Take a small drill bit, and whyle holding a shop light behind the panel in a semi- dark shop, drill thru all of those holes. Place a tack weld, and fill each hole up. Now would be a good time to review your welding pratices, and ask why so many holes in a welded seam, beads too far apart? Maybe now would be a good time to teach yourself gas welding, and leave the ''squirtgun'' welding for the guys doing collision repair? " Life ain't no Disney movie "
pimpin paint has it right...do it right or do it over...ask yourself if you can afford to do the job twice..just sayin
If you have pin holes, the surrounding metal seems like it would be pretty depleated too. You want to think about filling more than just the pin holes. Also if the pin holes are the only concern, you can put nails behind the hole to help weld the hole shut.
I to have just had my A tudor blasted and it came back with some pinholes,from rusted areas.As the metal is now in such a clean state,you should find it will weld up very nicely.I used my mig to fill the holes,as there would be less distortion from such short bursts.If the area blows out becuase it is thin,replace it now,its easier to do it now rather than when its painted and together!! Also,try putting a solid peice of br*** behind the hole when you weld,not only does it make the hole easier to fill,but it will absorb some of the heat from your weld.
i just did this same thing! i filled my 30 coupe fender spare tire well with a peice of metal i wheel'ed to shape and welded it in. after careful grinding, i put a lite behind and got a sharpie to mark the pin holes. in about 4 or 5 feet of weld, i had 26 pin holes. tack'ed them up, ground them down in about an hour and a half. somethimes it seems like these little tasks will never end, but they do. git'r'done! (right)

If I want to fill some very small holes drilled into my floor, can I use JB Weld? These are not rust roles. To the buy with the holes after blasting, you have more problems hiding in there I would weld new metal otherwise they might rust in a circle pattern around the holes you filled in.
I learned to go over a weld like that with duragl*** just to be safe, it's waterproof filler, again it aint right though
If you are talking about very tiny holes in ground down welds, maybe you could use lead. Of course in the middle of a large, flat surface you have to be careful when creating heat, although the weld stiffens it quite a bit.
use a magnifiying gl*** and you'll see tiny little lines sometimes between your welds or tacks, and there so tight that light won't p*** through. get rid of um! weld um' up! i'll flip the peice over and see how it looks if i can. i hate doing thing's twice.
