Theres one on ebay australia right now - starting at $275Au thought it might be easier to buy one from this firm in Adalaide than make one (for the aussies) It looks fairly well made, let us know if you get one Bob
Fwiw - take Mike's blueprints off this post and save them to a file somewhere. Import them into your photo program, rotate 90 degrees, make the height about 8.5", hit the "sharpen" effect and print off a copy of each. They come out very readable and it looks to me like all the information needed to build the roller is right there on the prints. For a little added clarity if necessary, print the bluprints in the size they come in - which is to say, small, roughly 3 x 5" for reference. Some of the more talented photo program operators can probably combine both blueprints on one page.
I've used a Snap-on BF 604 and an expansion jont in the sidewalk. Tears up the concrete, but the bead is strong. I tried a ball peen hammer, but the one that was big enough to really move the metal was bigger than the joint and the smaller hammers don't move the metal, so the body hammer with the chisel point is the way to go. Sure they're ugly as hell, but they are floor pan sections, so from the top they look like carpet, and I pity the fool who gets to seem them fron below. (that would be my sorry ass....) Hey, sometimes you gotta figure it out for yourself, and sometimes that's gonna be ugly.
Wow Grave Robber. 2003 Seriously? Then again If anyone has a copy of the article or the plans it would be nice to see them. So Btt
I am brand new to this site. I would love a copy of the blueprints for the bead roller. Thanks So Much!!!!!
If someone could send me a copy of the plans I would much appreciate it! I built this machine right after the American Rodder article and it worked perfectly, actually as good as the Pexto. Unfortunately, mine was a victum of my shop fire. Everything insode just got loaded. I'd love to build another. Much better than the reworked Eastwood one I just got rid of. Thanks in advance guys! 1) The original post here is nearly eight years old. 2) av8 (Mike Bishop) came back three years after (2006) to edit/remove all of the information he had previously posted. I suppose you could contact him directly, but he has actually removed info from quite a few of his old posts so that tells me he is probably no longer interested in sharing it.
if you wouldnt mind i would like to get a view or copy of those plans myself if i may ? jhutchison@badgerinc.com thanks a ton !
Well, since this thread as risen from the abyss it would be a good time to remind people of the tech archives,,Neal did a great thread on making a first class bead roller from a inexpensive Harbor Freight unit. HRP http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=137858&highlight=bead+roller
