This is a 'test'. If I'm breaking a 'rule', I didn't mean to. Here's the deal. I just struck a 'deal' with the Mayor of ***berland to do a 1 time 'car based' flea market in the parking garages at the Memorial Hospital campus in ***berland. (YOU heard it FIRST!) The hospital has been closed for 2 years and the space is just sitting there. The city would like it to be used somehow. IS there any interest in doing something like this here? ALL spaces are under roof, no heat, but there is light. The ceiling is under 8 feet, but there is ample parking on the 'open' decks for taller vehicles. There are 4 decks under roof and 2 open for taller vehicles. Let's talk about it. Cars, parts, services, whatever! Sorta like Hershey, without the mud. The facility is located 3/4 mile from rt 68.
It's a "No Brainer". I wouldn't do it in the winter, but March or April 2012 could be the perfect time.
Agreed. do it before the large established meet (Hershey, Carlsle etc. ) and you would probably have more people willing to spend more money
Sounds like a great idea. Send me a few fliers if this thing comes to fruition and I'll p*** them out down this way. Like Rich says, weather and timing will be important. I don't go west of Frederick between Dec. and March.
There's usually an early spring meet in Howard County, then Frederick. Weather is usually iffy then, probably more so in your 'hood. But sounds like a great idea.
You failed the test and broke all the rules. It's a great idea...I'd be in for another trip to ***berland! Clark
I would go for sure. Make sure you plan around all the other local events that are more rooted. You will miss out on vendors if you make it the same weekend as a longer established event somewhere close by.
Looks like quite a few folks are interested. Don't wait too long to pin down a date as people start making plans for next year and what events they want to attend. It would be wise to avoid the obvious dates that conflict with Carlisle, Hershey, Jalopy Showdown. Other than that, does anyone have any suggestions for the op?..........Don.
Hey new guy! For many years I was the only HAMBer from western MD? Have you made up any flyers to hand out for this "idea" at the indoor nats down at Timonium this weekend? That'd be a good start for the parts swap you're planning....lotsa locals there?
Is Mayor Grimm requiring a liability insurance rider for the event? You'll probably need a few Sani Pots and might want to consider a food vendor for coffee and something for eats?
