How long's your dipstick?

Broke the dipstick on my 351M, and managed to lose the bottom half of it in my garage somewhere before I measured it. I've got the type that comes out the drivers side of the motor, not the front mount. 21 inches is not correct, thats the front mount length.
Heading to salvage yard in hopes of finding one, knowing the chances are slim.
Anyone with a 351M and a side mount please chime in as to correct length, looks like I'll be customizing one.

Oh yeah, and the Ford dealership cant find it in "the book" so they aren't an option.

 

You must know the pan capacity. Drain the oil, add in the pan capacity, mark full line on dip stick, finish adding extra oil for filter etc. Done.

Jim, I know that method, just rather not drain pretty new oil to find out, and yes the motor uses enough to make it so id have to drain to be full again
