Ok im trying to get my 51 hardtop going. Im looking for a bunch of stuff but for now will a 2dr sedan drivers window regulator and back seat be the same as the hard top?
Some guys here have Hollanders, but I don't know if those cover body parts. I would be thinking they might be different, only because sedans don't need anything to help keep the window from going up crooked.
I wonder if the seat is different, because the B post is probably beefed up so the post does not shake when the door is closed. So maybe a thicker post and slightly narrower seat bottom?
my car is a plymouth so i can't say for sure. but i know for sure my car (hardtop) is different than a post.i would find a hollanders if i were you.
the rear seat is different, and window reg is probally 99% will not fit the rear floor area is diff making the seat diff, the doors are diff (a lot) so i can ***ume that the regs are diff too alexander the ems guy
Not many parts will fit! I know the back quarter windows are different. It rolls back in a circular motion.
I'm looking in a 1953 Chevrolet parts book and it's listed as 49-52 2-DR. CLOSED (exc. sedan delivery) #4561303. That would make me think all 2 dr's except the convertible used the same regulator (although it's seems odd I'm not finding a convertible listing). Can't help on the seat, only way I found them listed was with trim so the Bel Airs were listed seperately probably because of better trim, no way to tell if they'd interchange.
as stated, back seats are a definite no. hardtop/verts are totally different in that area. I had a pair of hardtop doors for resale on ebay before those money hungry ********ers ruined the whole site. the whole inner door was different. I'd be suprised if the regulators interchanged. my doors were empty shells, I had no regulators. PM me tomorrow, I can look it up in my master parts catalog. gotta go watch CSI New York now
As mentioned, the seats are completely different. I just wanted to add that it isn't just due to the floor pan, the widths are completely different as well. They don't even interchange with the convert where many of the other hardtop specific parts do.
best money you can spend on a parts interchange ... i have the vintage era books i bought a new bound set recently but have older ones found at swaps and auctions great tool when ya learn how to use em!!!! new disc version would be great. .http://hollanderinterchange.net/resources.php sadly i do not have one where i am today to help you...
Well I am still looking for all four window regulators, front and rear seats, dash peices and a bunch more stuff for my 51 hard top. Let me know what you have. Thanks
