I like the mallory unilite, cap is same size as old gm point distributor, just make sure you run ign. wire thru a ballast resistor, any more than 9.6 volts and it will burn the eye out, also the rotor is different from a vac adv. unit and a non vac advance, it will fit but the skirt rubs on top of the module and the shavings go into the slots and create a misfire cuz it blocks the eye from seeing the light, yes this from personal experience. lol

  3. You can also get the old Pertronix Ignitor unit to replace the points in a stock point distributor. Very simple and durable, and it will look traditional...;)

That may be the tunnel ram that most any distributor didn't clear. Back when those were new someone built distributors that were offset using a pair of gears to clear tunnel rams. But maybe one of the guys who actually ran that intake can chime in and give a real solution that works. I think the stock points style distributor was too big to work too

  6. I don't think that was the one. I've seen a lot of Weiand tunnels over the years, and they've had stock size housings in the back. Now, I've got a Crower injector on my big-block that is a different story!

I think the OP has an HEI from his followup post. The unilite doesn't need a module, but does need an external coil (as will anything that is going to fit, other than a Vertex magneto).

Like G***er John said, The Mallory unilite will work just fine. My friend runs one on his Weiand tunnel ram without any problems.

After rereading his post I think you are correct about the distributor he has and when you get beyond a single four barrel clearance becomes an issue with those.

    I agree.

All of Accels standard HP distributors would clear that manifold.
