Here's a few shots of a Model A in the works at jackandeuces. This started out as an original car, wrecked in 1933 (sat for years), was built as a hot rod but never finished. This car hasn't been on the road since 1933! This car won't leave Jack's shop until it is finished and driven away after sitting for 78+ years..... Flathead originally built for Evans belly tank car (which was sitting next to this one when found).. "Pretend time"
I love the way the hood seam and cowl/gas tank seams all meet perfectly. Hey Jack, have you ever built a car that _wasn't_ cool?
I like it. I'm curious, when was the original hot rod building stage? Was that long shifter handle with that rather large knob part of that phase?
Dave, you know you are welcome any time,I love free labor....Chris ,how are you doing old buddy old pal......Is that better.......I was told of this roadster in Orange Virginia at least 35 years ago, by the now owner ****ie who found it when he was about 18 , that was 50 years ago... Heres the history , this roadster was wrecked in 1933 and never put back on the road. It sat at Bates Garage for many years , Mr Bates would not sell it for fear someone would build a hotrod out of it, fast forward ,about 20 years ago a older distinguished gentleman Tom Woods ,much younger than ****ie or myself now , convinced Mr Bates to sell the body for a restoration project.. What Mr Bates did not know was that Tom had grown up in Southern California and was looking for the start of his childhood dream,a 29 roadster on a deuce frame...He started collecting all the proper parts Early halibrand , big early gauges, etc for the late 40s early 50s time spain.. When ****ie went to see the roadster in Toms garage outside Williamsburg, Tom had one of the Evans Belly Tanks next to this very period hotrod . The engine was to go in the tank but the tank was sold without engine.. ****ie bought it about ten years ago, we uncovered it about 3 months ago and started the fitting all the parts.... I could go on and on , but thats it for now.. The shifter was something ****ie had laying around and the ball is a fortune ball we put on this morning as a joke ..
As someone who currently has "Roadster Fever" I'm drooling on my keyboard.....Jack that friggen thing is cool.....Jack
That is a great story Jack. You guys are really putting the pressure on me Now, but I'm not too worried, Yet!
Holy ****e, I wish I could fit in that. I think I'd rather have that than a Deuce. Let the beatings begin.
Bates Garage was in Orange Va, Philbates is just outside Williamsburg ,not far from me....We will be blowing it apart this week for paint and final ***embly...
