So Im looking to change around the look of my 48 Buick Roadmaster sedanette a bit...

She needs some new rubber and im very taken with these:

the ribbed sidewall looks amazing and the tread pattern is f'n awesome. I know they are more for 30s cars, but I saw these tires on a friends 48 chrysler biz coupe and they just tie everything together.

the downside is that they are only available in 16"

So my question to you, oh buick wheel experts, is.....

Did Buicks ever come with 16" wheels that would fit my 1948 drums? also, would those wheels allow for my stock 48 dog dish caps? If they did, any of you boys have a set of 4, or know where I could get my grubby mitts on a set?

Do those have the same locating pins like the buick drums? theres 12 holes in the stock buick rims for the locating pins and the lug bolts..

My original 37 buick wheels had the locating holes and I believe they were 16s.

'42-'49 40 series came with 16s that'll work with your hubcaps, but they're really narrow. You'll find any other GM 5 on 5 wheel than a Buick has too small a center hole & won't fit over the hub. You'll need some 7.00 or bigger tires to hold that gal up ...

You can use your Buick centers on 40's Ford hoops... the old hot rod trick was to use reversed Buick hoops on Ford centers to give the wheels a deep dish...should work backwards I would think.

Thats a Buick wheel, why not get some newer 15" Buick wheels? They are wider and tires are easier to find.

My dad told me years ago about trying to buy a car after WWII. Lot more demand than supply at first. He saw an ad in the Knoxville News Sentinel from Knoxville Buick that said " WE HAVE CARS!!" As he told it, the only one available was a red convertible, so he bought it and brought it home. Lots of oddities about the car, including that it had 16" wheels. Told me the salesman laughed about any questions my dad had, said step aside, the next one will buy it. So he brought it home, and my mom said no to a red convertible, Back it went to the dealer, and he kept driving his '39 Plymouth for a few more years.
Dad wasn't a car guy, but he knew the first ones back in production had some weird shit, as they used up prewar parts.

Yes, that's true... just trying to identify the make and apox era used, to list it.
