I kicked myself for not asking what your username was... I was wondering. Good God man. That was the longest taxi line I have ever seen in my whole life. You couldn't miss me. I was the guy who's feet hurt.
Real car guys are usually pretty humble and nice....they know it's only "All about the Iron" .....regardless .... and yes RC you do have a nice literary style....Thanks
Missed SEMA,but I'm going to try to make CES in January. Not as inspiring as SEMA,but I do love my audio.
I am a second generation Las Vegas native and you guys need to take a trip away from the strip. There is a whole "regular" town away from the tourist stuff. If you're here for all the right reasons you will not get ****ed into the black whole of desperation that revolves around getting/being someting for nothing. Brick
I spent a couple of years in Vegas as a teen racing BMX and it was uber-normal.I made friends there that are still friends 30+ years later.
So you were schmoozing while "US Degenerates were trashing the place", serves you right. Looking forward to the pics. Scotty.
. That was a truly enjoyable/intriguing read. But when I got down to the last few paragraphs pf the article the irony of this image snuck up the page ... that's when my mind wandered and I imagined that these were those 'vegas girls' that we hear so much about? Heck, I even waited for them to drop their drawers but I guess I need a i phone ap for that or maybe it's because my jabascripts dont work in vegas???? All kidding aside Ryan, -That was a great Article.... (and I don't blame you for being su****ious of the whole damn thing, After all, the print media didn't really welcome you with open arms until half of them were dead and buried but now I guess the proverbial writing is on the wall). just my skewed opinion of course, ... keep up the good work, moe. .
great article for sure. This was my first SEMA, second USA trip in 15 months. Last year we did NSRA louisville, then vegas and a drive to Bonneville. This year it was a short 8 day trip to catch suppliers (So-Cal & Mooneyes mainly) and then onto SEMA No matter how may people say 'it's HUGGE' once you get ther its mind numbing. We went down on monday to sort our p***es as they turned up in Australia after we had already left.......It was decided that Hoover Dam will be there anytime!! While I really love my hot rods I am a car guy through and through, muscle cars, lowriders, trucks, even late model Euro stuff.....so we were well entertained. Got to meet Pete Chapouris this time round, he highly recommended better shoes than my Converse.......glad I listened!! Caught up with Corky Coker, was pretty surprised he remembered us from his trip to Australia earlier this year. Told us of his dinner with Edsel Ford and Carrol Shelby, he was as excited to meet them as we were to meet him, fun guy!! I now have enough ideas for another 2 or 3 builds, and a yearing to get a car from down here in Australia and do a USA show or 2..........SEMA 2013 maybe! Good to read that the USA guys enjoy the show as much as us travellers from afar! ps- been home 2 days and I still feel like ****, total travel time from Vegas to Perth.......30 hours in Airports and 20 hours in the air!!!
It was right outside the front door ryan....... Sorry I missed you at the van I had to do some work while I was there, and the wife flew in for a couple days so I had to show her around.
Here I am, a schmuck kid from Texas that does his best at running a small internet network, rubbing elbows with the likes of Jay Ward, Dutch Mandel, Bruce Meyer, Edsel Ford, Mario Andretti, Corky Coker and others that have no reason to kneel down to shake my hand or even pinch my cheeks like a sprouting little child. It's not such a "small internet network" anymore Ryan. In our eyes you are an "equal" to many of these people mentioned. "Gearheads Unite"!
This was my first SEMA. Been trying to go for several years and this time it just finally worked out...ie, I found the right hook up. Here it a week later and I feel like I am still mentally digesting everything that I saw. Felt like I took 2-300 photos and it only ended up being 34. The 2 friends I went with said the same thing. It can give you a twisted sense of reality when you see how much time and money is tied up in some of those rides. I feel like it is a must do for any true car guy. It will probably be another 5 yrs before I am mentally ready to go again, it was just that insane. By the way, I did see the sign in the Hilton for the HAMB party on Tuesday evening I believe, but did not recognize anyone right off and the guys I was with had other plans, like talking to Chip Foose, Brian Fuller and Corey Coker in the hall way. I wasn't a huge Foose fan before, but he was real down to earth and almost approached us.

That's really cool,Ryan! Now I have to keep my eyes open for a HAMB editorial in AUTOWEEK! Always liked that magazine. My favorite part was the ads in the back. All kinds of Racecars and supercars for sale. I remember once, there was a house for sale that had a racetrack. I dreamed of buying it and racing go-carts all day long! haha! You lucky dog!!!!
